HIKE - Uvas Canyon

Distance: 6 Miles

Difficulty: Moderate

Duration:  3 Hours (ample time)

loop visits a series of small waterfalls in this gorgeous canyon park.

The hike is easy to moderate with  few short steep sections. Trailhead elevation is about 1100 feet. This hike's highest point is about 1800 feet. Total elevation change is about 700 feet.

This lushly wooded park of 1,133 acres, is nestled in upper Uvas Canyon on the eastern side of the Santa Cruz Mountains. This mountain park offers hiking, camping and picnicking opportunities throughout most of the year.

On one side of the trail, we need to cross through one of the waterfall. Depending on how much water it carries, you may need to wet your shoes a little bit ... or may not. This place is just beautiful and most of the trail is shaded by the trees and incredibly greenery.

Come join us and visit one of the most beautiful parks around!!

There is a parking fee of $6.00

I'm so so sorry to all those that got stopped at the road block. I had no idea the race would be going on or that they would close the road. My biggest apologizes!! About 10 of us made it through. We missed the rest of you. I'll plan better next time.

Don't worry about it. People were saying that it was not announced anywhere, There was no way for you to know. Thank you for planning this outing, let's do it again

I will certainly plan this hike again. It's a good one to do during the summer months. It's mostly shaded and cooler next to the water.

Viviana and I were sorry to not be able to make it through... held back, by the bike race. However, in Indiana Jones style, we walked through and flagged down two friendly women in a four wheel drive jeep, who drove us up Croy. However, no signs of the group at our arrival. The upshot is that we met two incredible volunteers for the Sierra La Mar search and rescue team, and had an E ticket ride in their jeep with Rocco, their mascot!

I was disappointed that we couldn't get through. However, Elena and I ended up hiking at Henry Coe Park. It was very lovely, bu hardly any shade. We missed you!`

Thanks Kimberly to host this hike. It was a great work out and the trail condition was wonderful. I was pretty surprised that we could still see several good waterfalls even not much rain last winter. It's my first activity with this group and will definitely join more.

    April 8, 2013

      A former member

no, nothing to worry about. if you are a regular hiker the ups and downs are doable. no 'steep' hills unless you go up Nibbs Knob (sp?)

Hopefully my ankle will be strong enough to hike on it. "Hope...Hope"

Hi all, I've done this hike several times and recently with the Sierra Club. With mapping technology, the total elevation gain was around 1300. Although the total loop is ~6 miles, there are definitely places were this is hike is more moderate than it is easy e.g., flat.
