Alviso - Let's explore the bottom of the bay!

No this isn't a scuba trip to the muddy depths, it's a hike on the levees at Alviso Marina County Park and a walk through the old fishing and cannery town of Alviso.  Located at the very south end of the bay, Alviso offers about 10 miles of levees for walking or riding as well as streets where you can see the ghostly remains of it's maritime past.

We'll meet at Alviso Marina County Park and hike for about an hour and 30 minutes on the levees out and back (about 3-4 miles).  Afterward, we'll walk through old Alviso over to Maria Elena's Mexican restaurant for lunch.  Lunch is optional but feel free to join us for the walk through town.

Quite the quaint little community. I enjoyed the walk and having the opportunity to meet some new friends. The trip was initially made more enjoyable as Coach Dan was giving me direction on how to properly utilize my walking poles to achieve maximum efficiency.
I also enjoyed learning a little about "Drawbridge" and may return...Thanks Steve
The restaurant was good and made more enjoyable when Raquel stepped up to bus the tables, cleaning any debris, until she stopped

I've ridden my bike over a thousand miles around the Salt Ponds over the last seven years. So many different species of water fowl! Hiking is always great but biking allows you to see so much more :-)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
