LUNCH (Optional):

17288 Skyline Blvd
Woodside, CA 94062
(650)[masked]

Getting there:

From Interstate 280 in San Mateo County, exit Alpine Road (exit 22). Drive west about 3 miles, and turn right at the first stop sign, onto Portola. Drive about 0.8 mile, and turn left into the parking lot.

GPS coordinates* for trailhead:
Latitude 37°22'31.02"N
Longitude 122°13'24.47"W

In brief:
7.2 mile loop starts in Portola Valley and climbs to the crest of the Santa Cruz Mountains, then drops sharply back through grassland. Very pretty and cool in summer fog.

Distance, category, and difficulty
:
This 7.2 mile loop hike is moderate with some short strenuous areas, with about 1400 feet in elevation change. There are two main trailheads: the Portola Valley Trailhead elevation is under 600 feet. The Skyline Boulevard Trailhead elevation is about 1800 feet. From either trailhead, you can create easy or moderate hikes on mostly level trails, but as soon as you start climbing or descending, the hiking is more challenging.

I am having a problem uploading pics w/ my Safari browser on my Apple computer, to the point of HAVING to get there via Google Chrome to make it happen:( Is anyone else having that issue? The peeps at Apple can only say that sometimes there are quirks like that, and you just have to use a different browser. We tried everything they could imagine to try, and the only solution was the different browser. Using my Safari made me get a solidified window of my IPhotos on my screen that was immovable in every way. I never had anything like that happen, (happens w/ all the hiking groups by-the-way) and I've shared pic for years via the Safari browser on Meetup. (?)

Frank, I have no problems uploading pics with Safari on my Apple. Re-start your computer and try again… Sometimes that would do the trick :)

Thank you so much Nieves for picking the best route for this hike. If the other way around will be much strenuous for me. I am also very impressed and happy that Andy, Jojo and Roman can find us. Had a great fun at the lunch too. I am so grateful that the team leaders maintain such a great group for us.

The Hike was just the right length and was great day to hike! First time at Windy Hill and it did live up to its name at the top.

    Hello Fellow Hikers,
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. This is a beautiful hike but it is not for first time hikers. Please, change your RSVP if your plans to attend have changed. Also, make sure you bring nice, warm clothes in case it gets windy. See you all soon :)
Carpooling is welcome. If anyone has any ideas of where to meet for carpooling, please post it :) Thanks

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
