The Morgan Hill Mushroom Mardi Gras Festival, now in its 35th year of turning Memorial Day weekend into a celebration of the mushroom, has big plans for the free May 24-25 event in downtown Morgan Hill, California.

The two-day festival of family-fun includes live entertainment on two stages, arts and crafts, gourmet offerings, mushroom education, strolling musicians, street performers, and several city blocks of unique booths. For children, Munchkinland captivates kids with rides, games and continuous entertainment.

The festival raises funds for educational scholarships, which are granted annually and provides an opportunity for many local non-profit organizations, clubs and schools to create awareness of their cause.

Mushrooms, the region’s predominant local crop, are the stars of the festival with opportunities for guests to taste fresh, locally grown mushrooms and learn about their important health benefits.

I am glad I took the time to go down there and enjoy the sunshine, music and company. It was warm enough down there that I think I got my $ worth on the $14 dollars iced tea.Though I did miss Karen's smiling face, I definitely enjoyed Larry hand feeding me fresh cold grapes and learning from our resident Ph.d. that deadly diseases can be hazardous to my health.

    ok, out-of-towners, hope this helps.....

    There's a large "Park & Ride" parking lot @ 17295 Butterfield Blvd.
Between Dunne Ave. & Main St. Then just walk towards the track,s and WALK OVER the pedestrian train crossing, to get to the Cal Train Station, corner of 3rd & Depot St.
(guess we like to do things differently in MH, ie parking lot on one side of the tracks, and the Train station on the other side of the tracks. lol.)

Hi, It's been along time since I've gone to a big festival. Are some planning to bring their folding chair for sitting for music? Also, do we stay together the whole time or meet at the music shows? Just want to know how this generally works out with a big group. Thanks

    May 19

    • Nieves

Usually, there are tables and chairs near the stage area. You can bring your chairs, if you wish. We are meeting at the station and those who come late can meet with us at the Amphitheater Stage. People are free to move around as they please. I am sure some people will stick with each other and others will separate. I assume most of us will meet at the stages where music is at some point.
