Beginner Walk/Jog 5K Lake Wyman Boca Raton

This beginner walk/jog is ideal for anyone who would prefer to walk a shorter distance or begin to train for a 5K. Located in east Boca close to the intercoastal waterway, Lake Wyman Park features a firm rubber mulch fitness trail that is a one mile loop. The park also connects to James A. Rutherford park, a lush mangrove park with a wooden boardwalk.

What to expect: This walk/jog will take place mostly on the thick rubber mulch path in Lake Wyman Park . We will walk/jog approximately 3.25 miles by going around the fitness path and also on concrete. Everyone will have varying abilities and may go at different paces. I will be walking and jogging intervals at a slow pace. We may also walk the boardwalk at Rutherford park.

We will meet at 7:30AM and begin at 7:45AM. There is plenty of parking. I will park towards the front of the lot. If you chose to participate in this walk/jog you must bring water.

Those who have met me know that I have lost over 40 pounds. Even if you are not certain you can walk a mile much less run a mile I still invite you to join us. Walking can change your life but you have to take that first step. I am glad I did. My first 5K was the Turkey Trot last November and took me 44 minutes. My goal is to do even better on my next 5K and to do a half marathon in December. Check with your doctor before beginning any new exercise routine.

Location: Lake Wyman Park, 1500 NE 5th Ave, Boca Raton, FL 33432. Located between the 5th Avenue Shopping Center and Palmetto Park Road on NE 5th Ave. Look for the Silver Camry.

Plenty of parking and restrooms are available.

To anyone trying to find this park, it may not be GPS friendly. Two ways to access the road. One is to come from the north and take Federal to the intersection that has the Canoli Kitchen and the Bagel Queen. At that light(20th and Federal I believe) take the fork that goes to the left.

It may be easier to find 5th avenue from Palmetto. Take Palmetto east to 5th Avenue(just before the bridge) and make a left. Then the park will be on the right.

Ladies, I need to change the time on this Meetup to 7:30AM. They scheduled me for work at 10AM. Rather than cancel I am going to make it for half an hour earlier.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
