Fingers crossed the weather looks good! - we are officially permitted and I have it in my hot little hands! Great Lawn was not available but Pilgrim Hill is ours - bathrooms nearby at the boathouse, looks like a good spot!
bring blankets, chairs, food and beverage, frisbees, balls, or any other park/picnic accouterment you would like!
answers to FAQ:
1. What approx length of this party? - I have a permit that allows us to be there from 11:30-4 - this allows me to get there and set up balloons so that we CAN find each other at noon and it will go for as long as people want to hang out - like any party.
2. Where EXACTLY could we me meet each other? I know "near 72nd Street East and 5th Ave" but I have no idea where is located "Pilgrim Hill"? here is the interactive map on the central park conservancy website: http://www.centralparknyc.org/maps/ if you unclick all but lanscapes and points of interest then the very first green thing on the right at 72nd and 5th is Pilgrim Hill with this description:
A little knoll that rises to the southwest of Conservatory Water, Pilgrim Hill takes its name from the bronze statue that sits atop its crest. Most, however, know it as one of the best sledding spots in New York City.
and I am putting up balloons
3. Food. Thermos (it depends on outdoor temperature)? Sandwiches? Bottles of seltzer/spring water/cola? TOTALLY UP TO YOU!!!!!! what do you want to eat? drink? too many people for the food to be communal this is BYOB, BYOF bring blankets etc.
The SAME conservancy website will show you that the boathouse is near pilgrim hill - there are bathrooms and FOOD is sold there. And there will be vendors with drinks and food scattered in the park.
