How about The Sugar House? They're open on Saturdays at 5:00PM. It would be a great promo for them. I don't know anyone who works there. But I do know a person who knows the owner of Slows. Sounds weird, but could work out.

We would love, love access to a Vivio's for various productions.
Prefer on a Saturday during the day if possible.  Don't they serve breakfast and lunch?
Vivio's would be killer with their decor.
This is what I was talking about with bars.  Their available shooting hours are few.
Usually 5am -7am.  But who knows - we'll consider whatever.

One of my good friends own Vivio's bar in Warren.  I could ask them.

I think that is a good idea.
Issue with the bar location though.  Bars are tough to get for free.  The shooting hours are complicated by their hours.  And a huge cast of extras maybe needed to make it look like a bar.
This is one of the things we discuss at our Meetups about screenplay writing for low/no budget indie short films.  Your hands are tied by lack of locations and cast, sometimes equipment.
We ask that writers don't use locations, props, or characters that are difficult unless they know they can obtain the place/item.  Few people volunteer to provide locations when asked.
If we are shooting at one location and have to pack up and move elsewhere it's a pain.  Although we do multiple shoot locations, we prefer to limit them if at all possible due to the logistics.
Just some thoughts.

I'm new to the group, so I don't know how difficult it is to gain access to the school.

My idea is to have the student begging the professor to give her a second chance. Answer? No way. Then, s/he goes to the bar. Trying to make the student feel better, his/her friend has the bartender slide a drink down the bar. s/he grabs it - no problem. Student tries it - fail. But the really cute guy/girl (who she earlier knocked over in the rush) grabs it for him/her. True love! The end.

Basic story is a student is late for a test.  The Professor will lock the door at precisely x o'clock.  The student must dash across the campus taking all sorts of shortcuts to make it.  He/She leaves a trail of destruction in their wake and narrowly escapes death many times.  Do they make it?

What do you think funny might occur that can realistically be shot with little to no budget?  I see a ladder knocked down leaving the AC guy hanging who of course grabs the 240v cable to stop falling.  I see bumping the bar on the weight lifting machine - not pretty.

We'll show nothing graphically of course.

Lets have your ideas!
