Here ia an idea......Koh Yao Yai Islandis a yet-to-be-discovered tropical haven utterly untouched, offering guests a rare opportunity to step back in time and join in traditional Thai island life. Far removed from the hustle and bustle of holiday destinations such as Krabi and Phuket, Koh Yao is a charming area of outstanding natural beauty consisting of a cluster of small islands nearby Phuket in scenic Phang Nga Bay. Ko Yao Yai Village is perfectly situated in a sheltered spot offering accessibility all year round with the resort carefully created to echo rural island life whilst ensuring guests are comfortable and well-taken care of with plenty of luxuries.

A private and serene resort gently residing beside the Andaman Sea, the Koh Yao resort village provides a sanctuary nestled amongst lush sub-tropical rain forest, rice fields and rubber plantations. This Koh Yao hotel is just a 30 minutes speedboat ride away from Krabi or Phuket, yet a million miles away in terms of tranquility. Koh Yao Island captures a by-gone era where life flows at your own pace. Rest, relax and recharge your batteries in one of 50 unique, detached, indoor/outdoor bungalows or villas dotted spaciously across a 32 acres village.

Take a relaxing dip in the impressive 700 sqm infinity pool with breathtaking views across the bay, go for a morning jog along the flat beach sands or wander through our very own rice paddies. You can join in island life as much or as little as you desire, including - an outing on an authentic longtail boat to a deserted blue lagoon, fishing and enjoying your catch for dinner or an exhilarating eco-bike ride. Plus water enthusiasts will adore the verdant underwater gardens seen on a snorkeling excursion and all should experience traditional Thai therapies at the soothing Wana Spa.

Nov 19: Bangkok – Grand Palace Tour (B)
This morning, your guide will pick you up and take you to the Grand Palace. This is a must see for all visitors in Bangkok.

The Grand Palace complex, which includes the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Keow) is unquestionably one of the wonders of the world today. Within its enormous grounds is the most exotic Buddhist temple, and at the heart of the temple itself is a fabulous Buddha image, carved from one piece of Jade, which is the holiest and most revered of religious objects in Thailand today. Nearby is the Grand Palace, once the official home for the Kings of Siam, built in traditional Thai architecture mixed with

European designs. You can also see the Royal Funeral Hall and the Royal Coronation Hall.

Optional: Baipai Thai Cooking Class (D) - $90.00 pp
This afternoon, you have the option of taking a Baipai Thai cooking class. While visiting Thailand, there is no better way to learn Thai cooking than from its origin. Baipai Thai Cooking School is an ideal home style learning environment that is different from most of the hotels and restaurants in Thailand. Spend only half a day in the afternoon to learn the

preparation of 4 authentic Thai dishes. Conducted in English, this is a real hands-on experience and should not be missed.

Evening Option: Visit the famous Patpong night market! (No need to pre-book, just make your own way there and back☺).

Nov 20: Bangkok (Day trip to Ayuthaya) (B, L)
Located 86 kilometres north of Bangkok, Ayuthaya was Thailand's second capital from 1530 to 1767. Once a thriving international commercial centre, today only the ruins of this splendid city are to be seen, for the capital was invaded by the Burmese in 1767. The ruins of the Palace and temples are quite spectacular and many are still quite intact. From these ruins you will be able to see how glorious this Ancient Capital used to be. The summer palace of Bang Pa In is also included. This tour will take you into a time and place once known as Siam.

Nov 21: Bangkok – Koh Yao Yai Island (B)

Today you will check out of your hotel and be transferred to the airport in Bangkok for your flight to Phuket. Upon arrival in Phuket, you will be met and transferred to your hotel on Koh Yao Yai Island; the rest of the afternoon is free for you to enjoy at your leisure.

Nov 22: Koh Yao Yai (Canoe Cave Explorer Tour) (B, L) (9:00am, 6 hr tour) Take a trip to the popular tourist attraction of James
Bond Island, a dramatic rock formation located in
stunning Phang Nga Bay, made famous in the film

‘The man with the golden gun’. Your journey will also take you into hidden caves where natural wonders can be explored and also to experience local life at a genuine floating village. Transport is a via traditional long-tail boat.

Nov 23: Phi Phi Island Snorkeling (B, L)

(7:00am, 7hr tour) Must have 10 or more people to operate.

Journey by speedboat to Phi Phi Island for spectacular snorkeling. The excursion also includes a visit to Monkey Beach, landing on Maya Beach as seen in the Hollywood film ‘The Beach’, sightseeing at Viking Cave and more snorkeling at Loh Sa Mah Bay. Lunch is served at scenic Phi Phi Don where you can also take time to explore or relax on the beautiful beach.

Nov 24: Koh Yao Yai - Phuket – USA (B)

Today after breakfast, check out of your hotel and be transferred to the airport for your

flight back to the USA with a lifetime of memories!

Optional Extension to Chiang Mai

Nov 24: Phuket – Chiang Mai (B)
This morning, you will check out of your hotel and transfer to the airport for your flight to Chiang Mai. Upon arrival you will begin a City and Temples tour. The city of Chaing Mai has a wealth of beautiful and historic Buddhist Wats (temples) and during this tour you will visit the most fascinating Wats in the area. Near the summit of Doi Suthep is the 600 year old temple of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. After a drive up the mountain's winding road, the final climb to the site is via an enormous mythological Nagas Dragon headed serpent staircase of 306 steps (elevators are available). Inside the cloister is an intriguing copper plated chedi topped by a five tier gold parasol, which contains relics of the Lord Buddha. On a clear day, there are incomparable views over the city of Chiang Mai from the temple grounds. Other temples visited on this tour include Wat Suandok, whose large central stupa contains a Buddha relic which supposedly self multiplied, and Wat Chedi Luang, consisting of an impressive chedi originally built in 1411. The chedi reached a height of over 85 meters before it was partially destroyed by an earthquake in 1545; it now reaches a height of 60 meters. This temple also contains the city pillar.

Optional:
Enjoy an evening out by having Khantoke Dinner, the customary northern Thai style of eating with food being served in large platters at low tables while you sit on mats on the floor. As you enjoy your meal, let yourself be entertained by a selection of northern cultural performances including the charming Fon Lep (Thai Finger Dance), Ram Dab (Thai Sword Dance), Fon Thiean (Thai Candle Dance), and Ram Wong (Group Dance). To end the evening, there is a special hilltribe show performed by various members of Yao, Lahu, Meo, Lisu, and Karen hilltribes.

Nov 25: Chiang Mai (Zip Line) (B, L)

This morning you travel to Doi Lankah, one of Thailands highest mountains, where you will experience 'Jungle Flight'. There are 22 platforms in total, linked together by 15 zip lines, 2 sky bridges, and 3 abseil elements and 1 spiral staircase. All the elements were constructed - and are maintained - to very high international standards. You travel the circuit through the canopy, moving between tall well established fig trees, high above the dense vegetation of valley floor below through which a stream flows feeding a small hydroelectric plant located near the end of the zip wire course. The experience takes around 2hrs to complete, depending on your group size, and is exhilarating but safe. On completion of the course, board the vehicle and travel back to your hotel.

The remainder of the day is at leisure.
Evening Option: Visit the famous night market! (No need to pre-book, just make your own

way there and back☺).

Let's check with our tour guides when we're there! I am confident they can figure something out for us; they are usually very flexible :-) I want a photo with an elephant hehe

So it doesn't look like we'll be able to do the Patara Elephant Farm b/c it starts at 730 in the morning, goes all day, and we have no free days. I am soooo bummed!!! My friend said it was one of the best experiences she's ever had. I am actually extending my trip until the 29th to go to Koh Samui/Full moon party...thinking i might stay an extra day in chiang mai to do this! When will I ever get a chance to adopt an elephant for the day?! Too many fun things to do, so little time!

    November 8, 2012

  • katie N.

Hi Guys, I heard about this amazing experience at Patara Elephant Farm in Chiang Mai (one that treats the elephants humanely). you get your own elephant for the day to ride and swim around with. My friend shot a video and it was unreal! They are so sweet. I'm not sure if we even have time with the tour and ziplining, but I"m going to look into it. Let me know if you'd be interested too.

    Hi Ladies

So I just spoke to Liz and it looks like Goli can't make it :( so its not looking so good for me unless someone would be so kind to open themselves up for a triple share. You get 100$ off your payment and a new friend ! I'm neat, courteous and have had all my shots, LOL :) pls let me know as soon as possible b/c the fares are increasing minute to minute. Thanks!

    November 6, 2012

  • Danielle E

Hey Katie, does the triple share discount still apply? Meaning, when someone shares a room, do they get a discount refunded to them?

    November 3, 2012

    • katie N.

yes, i do believe that is what Liz told me. That's why she needs names

      November 4, 2012

If I could do a triple share then the chances of me going are much better! Just got off the phone with Liz. She will need the names of the girls who would be willing to do a triple share. So if anyone wants to volunteer, i would so appreciate it :)

Hey gals! I spoke to Liz to inquire about the trip and whether I can still sign up! So far, she confirmed 10 reservations. This means if everything works out and I am able to join, that would make it an odd number headcount. Would anyone be interested in doing a triple? I don't the exact cost but it would be slightly cheaper for folks who want to do a triple and she said that can still be arranged. Single supplement could run $800-$1000 additional---AYE CARUMBA! Anyway, I'll get an update from Liz tomorrow about reservations, costs, etc. Hollaaaaaaa!!
