Our 42nd Meetup & We'll watch Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

  • Jan 18, 2014 · 5:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Mere seconds before the Earth is to be demolished by an alien construction crew, journeyman Arthur Dent is swept off the planet by his friend Ford Prefect, a researcher penning a new edition of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy."

Come over at five. We'll socialize for a bit and have dinner, then watch the movie. Please rely on the food I'll provide. I'm requesting $5 to defray the food cost. If you wish to bring items, please only bring ones that you are sure would be ok (like plain fruits, vegetables, or foods marked dairy and gluten-free). Thank you

Parking: you can park along curb in front of the house. Please park towards the driveway so that two cars can fit. If those spaces are taken, please park on Hawley.

Residence is near PVTA bus stop & Downtown Northampton...just 3 blocks from Post Office.

Thanks for sharing these links, Travis. I haven't had time to watch them, but they seem interesting.

I meant to post this last week but forgot til now. Here's a link to a Flash version of the original Hitchhiker's Infocom text adventure game from 1984, with some illustrations added (which the original game didn't have at all):

It really is a fantastic alternate version of HHGttG, both funny and challenging.

I've been looking forward to meeting all of you and to watching the movie. Whether I make it also depends on the weather. <fingers crossed>

just remembering reading the book and how hysterical it was!

I have thought it would make a great break from longer/more serious books. It's endlessly re-readable.

      January 3, 2014

    • Ann W.

maybe we should have a special meeting where we read it aloud for maximum effect!

I would love to come, but I've got a holiday party at work that day, maybe I'll try to come up if the work thing gets out early.
