Winter Run to Rausch

I am looking to schedule a green/blue (heavy on the blue) guided tour through Rausch Creek for some time in late January early February.  Anyone interested?

We hit green and blacks. Had a lot of fun playing on the snow and mud.

Based on the whether this looks like it will be a good time. (http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/Tremont+PA+17981:4:US?cm_ven=Email&cm_cat=tenday_share). We will be taking off at 9AM and can decide how hardcore we want to get based on the vehicles we have in our party. The day will cost $150 (+ we should tip). If 75% of the registered drivers show up this will equal about $40 a truck. I am really looking forward to this as it may be the first time I get my jeep out in the snow. I hope everyone makes it. Directions can be found at the fowling link (http://www.rauschcreekoffroadpark.org/direct.php).

I hope you all have fun, sorry I won't be able to make it. I'll be stuck working. Hopefully I'll make the next one.

Yup I want to give this a shot but I got an F[masked]"s with no lift and a 144 " wheelbase. You think that will be a problem? I got a tow strap if all else fails

I guided a group that had a Nissian Titan on green and blue trails and the only problem was a minor run in with a tree that took some moulding off the bumper on a wide but twisty green trail. As long as you take it easy and watch your corners, you should be fine.

I am still waiting to hear back from the organizer but I believe if we can get 5 trucks to go we will need to kick in about $35 for the day. You will also need to be a member. If I don’t hear in a couple more days I will let everyone know.

This has been confirmed, we should each expect to pay between $30 and $35 for the guided tour. All drivers will need to be members. If everyone wouldn’t mind just confirming they are attending I will go ahead and put a deposit down for the day.
      Thanks

I'm unfamiliar with Rausch. Whats the diff between blue and green? Are lockers mandatory?

I don’t think I even went into 4Lo last time I was there.

Blue trails tend to be more technical than green. Tighter turns, bigger rocks... A near stock vehicle will need to pick their lines wisely to get through the trail. A locker makes things easier but usually not needed. I believe they have a good amount of snow up there though so that sometimes turns harder trails easier and easier trails harder.

I took the group on a run a while back. There's not much in the way of technical trails but if you like exploring and geocaching, there's much of that available. Most of the roads are marked on the DeLorme New Jersey Gazetteer so that with a good sense of direction or a tracking gps will keep you from getting lost. I would offer to guide a ride but I need to fix a few things before taking another trip.

There is some cool places to campout. The ghost towns of Friendship and Hampton Furnace come to mind. Not sure but you may need a permit for that.

Thanks for the info Rich. That's on my to do list. I do like that area. I think we should do a weekend camping trip out of it when it warms up.

There are a lot of fire roads and old stage coach roads out in the pines. Kind of boring. . In fact many of them show up on my cheapie garmin. Just make sure you have "dirt roads" unchecked in the avoidance file. There are also deep mud bogs but I dont have the tires for that

I don't think I can make it up around that time. Earlier in January would work though. Wouldn't mind exploring the Pine Barrens up your way with someone who knows the area a bit. I think that would be a lot of fun.

so where do people actually wheel in the pine barrens? i've kayaked and camped there but that's kind of it. Are they fire roads?
