Want to start and maintain a healthful lifestyle? Are you trying to do any or all of the following: Eat better, lose weight, gain muscle, quit smoking, stop drinking, start exercising, get more fresh air, get to sleep at a reasonable hour, do mind-stimulating as opposed to mind-numbing activities?
Are you 45 years of age or more? Would you like to meet others with the same goals? This is the place for you.
Have you already gotten into good shape and are 45+? Would you like to meet others with your values? This is the place for you as well.
Just because we're not 20 anymore doesn't mean we have to roll over and play dead.
We will expand our horizons and get off the Island of Manhattan from time to time, though we will do activites in Manhattan as well.
Samples of some activities I will organize: A day trip to an historic village on Staten Island, day trip to a working farm in Queens (of all places!), The Bronx and/or Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, lectures about topics such as stress reduction and nutrition, yoga classes, meals at various restaurants in Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan and anywhere else there is something good and good-for-you to eat, walking tours, foreging tours/hikes; sports such as bowling. Picnics that can include chess games, volleyball, rowing on a pond, and soccer amongst other activities. Most of the events will be held during the day or evening, not late at night.
It does not matter where you are right now in your "get healthier" goal. Just be willing to try something new and healthful and go new places, even if they aren't in your own back yard.

Full disclosure: I'm vegan, so the majority of restaurants I choose will at least be vegetarian with vegan options, but this group is not limited to vegetarians, so whatever you bring on a picnic or buy at the bowling alley to eat is your choice.

Once again one of our members and a fabulous VEGAN chef is offering to hold a gathering in his home in Howard Beach, Queens. Have a Fabulous Healthful Vegan meal and a warm afternoon of camaraderie, laughs and fun with your peers in a real home atmosphere.
