>>> NOTE:  Tourney start time is 7:40 , cards in air...  <<<

Play friendly Poker in a Pasadena old Craftsman home with friendly players, good music, byob and byo food. Play Pool on the side, and enjoy the porch out front or the bbq out back.  The 514 League welcomes players of all skill levels, from novice to advanced.   Pre-tourney Cash Game starts 6:00Tourney starts promptly at 7:40 p.m.

NOTE: If Tourney is all booked up, still get on the Wait List and do feel free to come on by anyway for pre-, during-, and post- Tourney side cashgames [and who knows you might be able to sneak into the Tourney, too, (IF there are tourney no-shows, only)]

LOOK >>> Some DETAILS OF THE THURS. 514 MEETUPS have been Revised.

Re-read the Discussion Forums for some reminders of some general poker etiquette and Tournament Directors Association rules PLUS some House Rules.  The Host is serious about Show One Person/Show All People, about Do Not Go Through The Muck, about not talking about the board or potential hands with action in play (even afterwards, commenting on people's strategies, etc, is frowned upon). Also, if you fold, toss your cards into the muck, and leave them there.  All-in showdowns are required (as per TDA- parties turn cards up "without delay")both in tourney AND in cash. Also, tourney and cash, never show card(s) with action still to come, including your own action; if you show intentionally (other than required all-in showdown), you auto-forfeit pot.  And one other

NOTE: it is against the rules to criticize the play of another.

TDA RULE # 51: No Disclosure Players are obligated to protect other players in the tournament at all times. Therefore, players, whether in the hand or not, may not:

1. Disclose contents of live or folded hands,

2. Advise or criticize play at any time,

3. Read a hand that hasn't been tabled.

There will be some co- Tournament Managers who will help the Host run the tourney.

Check in with the money collector starting at 6:30; Rich or some other designee will be collecting for the tourney and distributing seating chips.  Do not wait until the last minute or you could lose your spot at the tourney tables.

Feel free to throw a pizza or whatever in the oven or burgers on the grill.  Or teach me how to make a healthy vegan meal.  Put your BYOB in the fridge or cooler.  Bring a friend or two, even if they just wanna hang out and eat and drink and play pool and listen to music and banter. Contact Curt if you're going to be over earlier than 6:00 for food prep.

Site donation$3.  It goes for Meetup fees, supplies like cards and chips, prizes, utilities, and/or future tables. Thank you. Please be concientious. Host invests his money on 514...

Also, be sure to put $1 in the RCC if you take a soda or water, and do contribute snacks; RCC donations sans consumption are also welcome.   If you'd like to have beer or other alcoholic beverages, Bring Your Own. (Don't drink to the point of being obnoxious, please; only the Host is allowed to do that.) sort ofNEW>> Note: moving back towards BYOB and BYO Snacks/"pot luck" Snacks.  Host might cook some spaghetti or something, but not always; depends on time, money, etc.  Host has a few sodas and waters to sell. Host generally will provide a cooler and hopefully some ice for you to store or share drinks.

NOTE: if you want beer or other alcohol, you MUST bring your own.

Pre-tourney Cash Game starts 6:00 or so. (Host won't necessarily play in early cash, but might if has time... but others are welcome. Enough tables for more than one cashgame, btw, so if one is full, form another) Indicate in RSVP if pre-tourney cash interest.

No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tourney starts promptly at 7:40 p.m., Blinds rise 20 mins first two levels, then 15 minutes until the "endgame" when they accelerate slightly. $10 buy-in, NEW >2400 chips (ten each of Red 5, White 10, Green 25, Black 100; two Grey 500); one possible $10 re-buy (NEW > 2200 chips = 4 Green, 6 Black, 3 Grey) for another $10 if busted out in first hour and fifty minutes, before the break.

Late Arrival Policy: If you enter the tourney after the first hand has begun and before the break is over, your initial buy-in will be for 2200 chips; you can still exercise your rebuy rights as described above if you're in before the break. (if you're later than that, feel free to come and play some pool and join side cash game develop as folks get felted from tourney.)

Depending on number of people, Tourney finishes by about 12:15, sometimes slightly earlier or slightly later. Some people work in the morning, and the Tourney accomodates.

NOTE: If you RSVP "Yes" but then cannot make it, change your RSVP to "No" as soon as you can, so waiting list tourney players know they have a have spot.  >>>Consistent no-shows without RSVP change leads to ban from 514 Poker League.<<<

Pre- and/or post-tourney cash side games are a tradition. We have been starting $10-15 buy-in cash games at 6:00 or so...  Tourney (prompt 7:40 p.m. start) players knocked-out play pool and/or play a side cash games.  Cash games have been .25/.50 No Limit Holdem, but Curt would love to see more Omaha Hi-Lo cash...  Buy in for as little as $5 and as much as $15.  $10 is standard.  You can rebuy if you run out in cash game, or between hands; while you are in a hand, you play with what you have on the table.  Between hands, you can recharge up to $15, if you desire. Post-Tourney cash game can go on until perhaps 2a.m. sometimes, but can leave earlier if you want, no problem.

The play has been fun and competitive with some strong players, so it'll keep you on your toes and strengthen your game. There's a core group of players and new players keep showing up almost every time.  Note: We seek to remain friendly so attempts at cheating or collusion won't make you friends here.  So relax and have fun.

You should play poker with the 514 if you're a friendly, tolerant, smart and fun-seeking hobbyist poker player who seeks a safe and relaxed-but-competitive home-game poker night on a regular basis in Pasadena. If you're a proker pro, well, then come just to show us how it's done.

If you want a good reason to " get out of the house" and rub elbows with a group of interesting men and women so far ranging in age from about 20 to 60+ , the 514 Poker League of Pasadena might just suit you nicely.

No pressure to drink or anything else, so sober play is welcome if so inclined. If you want to drink, that's fine too as long as it doesn't get out of hand or obnoxious... we want to keep this thing pleasant.

Minimum age to play poker is 18, and minimum age to drink alcohol is 21. No smoking in house, but outside is tolerated as long as you're courteous about your smoke AND butts. Do NOT toss your cig butts on the ground, though; it's a pet-peeve of mine. Any use of hard drugs merits immediate expulsion from the grounds and from 514 League.

Come early and make some dinner or snacks if you want; use of the kitchen and the bbq is not only permitted... it is encouraged!  Contact Curt, Organizer, if arriving before 5:45 p.m.

As for setup, the chips are already counted, so it's a matter of setting up catroom, table top for dining room, and setting up either the porch table(s) or moving furniture in the spare bedroom and moving one or both of the porch tables into there.
If we decide to have a four-table tourney night, then we'll need a few more starting stacks counted out.
6:00pm or slightly earlier should be good enough if there's several pitching in... it really shouldn't take too long to do then. That way people can catch some pre-tourney cash, too, or the set-uppers can get the job done and grab some grub or simply participate in some sparkling conversation or lift some weights out on the porch or all of the above.

If you want to put something in the oven or whatever as well, then you can come a bit earlier, too.

    Thank you, volunteers.
