Introduction

I am a part-time writer working to improve my craft.

Have you ever taken a writing class?

Yes, several in high school and college.

Which do you enjoy more, fiction or non-fiction?

Fiction.

What is your favorite genre?

For writing I prefer speculative fiction, though I do a little bit of more literary fiction. For reading I like a broad range from spy thrillers to SF to non-fiction biography.

What is your favorite book?

There are many. On Writing, by Stephen King, is a great melding of memoir and writing advice book. Ender's Game (and the following book Speaker for the Dead) by Orson Scott Card take a couple of rather simple concepts and build a compelling story around them. I just finished Tom Brokaw's latest book The Time of our Lives and found the ideas suggested compelling.
