Winter 2013/14 League Event #1
New League Structure
705 Ontario Poker runs two seasons each year. Each season is 6 months long with a Summer Season of April, May, June, July, August and September and a Winter Season of October, November, December, January, February and March. Each season has a Season Finale and all players are eligible to play in the Season Finale as long as they qualify (have played at least 5 league games during the season).
Each tournament is a stand alone event with regular payouts and points are allocated to the top finishers. Players collect these points at all 705 events during the season and all players who qualify to play in the Season Finale are seeded and their starting chip stack is based on their finish position at the end of the season - the higher you finish, the more chips you have to start the Season Finale. Each tournament is also be a bounty event. Points are calculated as per TNPLC formula - click here for the chart.
Regular and Turbo Event Buy-ins
$60 for 4000 chips - $10 for a bounty - 20 or 30 minute blinds - NLHE - our tournament structure allows for a lot of play - actual completion time depends on the number of players and the pace and style of play - please see our detailed structure document for more information. Patience and Skill
With a 6000 starting stack and 30 minute blinds (not taking into consideration any re-entries) this tournament has a Patience Factor of 14.88 and a Skill Level of 6 out of 6. What does this mean? Check out all the details at www.pokertournamentformula.com.
NEW! Option for Limited Re-entry Seats (read carefully)
Every regular event has a limited number of re-entry seats available. A re-entry is very different from a re-buy. A re-buy tournament has specific strategy - our tournaments are freezeouts which again have their own strategy. The re-entry seats should not be confused with a re-buy. The limited number of re-entry seats are available to anyone who busts out within the first 3 levels (90 minutes for regular events or 60 minutes for turbo events).
The objective of the re-entry seats is to allow someone who takes a sick beat or gets coolered to re-enter if they so choose. It is no fun to drive for an hour and hit a set over set situation on the first level and then have to drive an hour home.
These re-entry seats are limited to a specific number of chip stacks that are in place to balance the tables. These stacks are in play and are blinded out. Once the allocated re-entry stacks are sold, there are no more available for that event. The number of re-entry stacks available is determined 5 minutes before the start of the event based on the 705 re-entry seating chart.
So, if you bust out during the first 3 levels, you may re-enter the tournament if there is a re-entry seat available. You will then select a random seat card from the remaining re-entry seats and be seated at that seat with the blinded out stack. The cost to re-enter is $80 which includes another bounty with the same cost breakdown as the initial buy-in (60/10/10). Half of the re-entry money ($30) goes into the prize pool for the event and half ($30) goes into the prize pool for the Season Finale.
The Season Finale is open to all players who qualify - to qualify you simply need to play in 5 events during the season. All players who qualify are seeded and the player with the most points starts the Season Finale with 8000 chips. For every position down the standings you will receive 50 less chips - so 2nd place will start with 7950 and 3rd with 7900 etc. If there are more than 40 players in the Season Finale the least amount of chips you can have will be 6000.
Season Finale Buy-ins
$80 for entry (chips as per points standings) - $10 bounty - $10 option for 2000 chips - to pay for drinks, lunch, room costs etc. ($100 total) - same blinds and structure as our regular events. No re-entry is available for the Season Finale. Remember, half of the re-entry money from the entire season is added to the Season Finale prize pool as well as the Season Finale tournament buy-ins.
