This is for people who love movies, love to discuss everything movie related, and want to meet other people with the same passion. We'll explore different genres, have special screenings, and events throughout the Redwood Region.
There is a diverse variety of venues throughout the area - beautiful historical theatres, funky multi-use venues, and the great outdoors. We will have different types of screening event throughout the year, and am open to input from our members.
Locals or visitors can connect on the MeetUp site, connect at the movie of choice, and then go to dinner after wards and discuss the film, or meet before the screening, in some cases. Some films will be set up well in advance - others will be impromtu, with a day or two notice. The key is to have fun and share the passion of cinema. I encourage people of all ages and varying degrees of cinema expertise to participate. The main thing is - if you love movies and love to talk about them - this will be a blast.
There will also be a range of dining options - one night, may be pizza, another fine dining, sushi, perhaps a food style paired with the movie theme, BBQ and outdoor screening in the summer, the skies the limit.
We'll also develop discounts at local restaurants and theatres for our MeetUp Group, as well as have some free screenings with a pot luck.
Film fans of all ages - meet and share your knowledge and perspective. . . college students, retirees, hard working professionals, geeks, cat lovers, dog fanciers, come out and meet your neighbors and talk about the thing we love - movies - and the people who make them or break them. Or we can talk about the actors who bring the characters to life - or, maybe talk about the where they were filmed, the special FX techniques, and on and on.
We'll come up with specific topics sometimes and keep it more open for others, depending on the film.
