Announcing a new Meetup for 757 Comic & Cartoon Creators!
What: Early June Meeting - on Ideas and Anthologies When: Saturday, June 12, 2010 3:00 PM Where: Pembroke Mall Food Court 4554 Virginia Beach Blvd Virginia Beach, VA 23462 757-497-6255 Hey Gang: 757ccc's Early June meeting will focus on discussing the Ideas that our fellow members have been suggesting over the past few months. Heck...we may even implement a few of them then and there! Members have suggested after-hours social sketching, group reference pose sessions, virtual tools for critiques and in-between meeting communication, and the anthology project. Do you have any ideas or suggestions for the group? What would YOU like to see happen with 757ccc? Everyone will get a chance to share his/her ideas, and we'll discuss all ideas presented. We'll also discuss...(wait for it)...the ANTHOLOGY project! Aside from your submission, what ideas do you have for that? What would you like it to be called? Do you have any ideas for funding it? Bring your brilliant creativity and help us figure out the answers to all these issues and more. And of course — as always — feel free to bring something to draw with, something to draw on, as well as any work or tips to share. [NOTE: Venue may be subject to change, but I'll try to give at least a week's notice if it does.] Seeya there! Kevin ======= ======= P.S. I've been participating in an online webcomics study group, and as a part of that, I've been using a couple of online tools that could benefit 757ccc. So, here are a couple of ideas for offline/in-between meetings communication and collaboration: Google Wave Google Wave is sort of a hybrid email/forums/collaboration platform that lends itself pretty well to the sort of thing our group is looking to do. We can post updates, links, artwork, and even code (widgets, etc.). It's worth checking out. It's free and available to everyone as of last week. TinyChat TinyChat is a web-based chatroom that is video and audio enabled (if you want it to be). Each room can host up to 12 audio/video connections, and unlimited text-only connections. Also, I've had a tumblr page for 757ccc set up for a while now. You can submit articles or art at this link. I just thought y'all might want to check those out before the next meeting so you'll know what they are when they come up in discussion. -kev Learn more here: http://www.meetup.com... (and check the message board if you're having trouble with the links. Thanks!) |

Looking forward to meeting all of you! Can't wait to get details on the Anthology project. I will bring two anthologies I have stories in when I belonged to the Kansas City Comic Book Creators Network a few years back. May I also suggest creating an account on www.myebook.com I have a short comic I did the works on posted there and it's been read over 20,000 times! Here's the link:
