VOTING Sat. May 8, for Municipal Elections

From: Cindy C.

If you didnt do early voting - you need to vote Sat. for your City Elections - I will give some of my recommendations for a few cities near me, but you should do your homework before going if you have not already.  My rule of Thumb is typically vote NO on BONDs- your taxes will go up...and these days, usually the incumbent needs a vacation...so give the new guy a chance- that is if you have no info to go on, that would be the best advice I can give.   (If you have some recommendations, please reply to me, and tell me your resaons why you make such recommendations!)

Here are Tarrant County Municipal Ballots - find yours and see if you need to do homework on who/what is being voted on.  Scroll down the page to see if there are also School Board Elections - those are important too!  Do your homework - time is short- I know, this email should have gone out weeks ago - Im sorry!

Here are my suggestions based on the homework I have done on these three cities below.

If you have not gone out to vote for the local Municipal elections near me - Saturday (tomorrow) is it! Here are my recommendations so far as I know.

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS:
- VOTE "NO" to 48 mil. for BOND. (too high!) & we already have $122 MIL in bond obligations! That is 1.8 MILLION DOLLARS FOR EVERY CITIZEN IN NRH!

I think they need to go back to the 'drawing board' and come up with a more reasonable expenditure plan- besides, I think there will be too much arm twisting and 'central planning' involved with the entire project. I was told if they buy 12 of the approx 80 acres, they will require certain things be done specific ways for the rest of the acreage.

>>NRH- Place 2, SAY YES TO CHARLES SPRADLING - he agrees the bond is too much and he wants to be in the Council to bring a sane perspective, and not just YES, YES, YES all the time. If you watch the votes during city council meetings, they always (almost) are unanimously YES!
==========================================

BEDFORD: Only GREAT choice for Place 2 City Council - is YES to DAVE GEBHART- There are other races, and if I hear of preferred candidates for those, I will post below- or if anyone here has recommendations, feel free to post below as well.   Member Janna Easton suggests only to vote for Dave, leave the rest of the choices blank to let them know that we know the rest of them are basically clones and more of the same!

===========================================
HURST:
VOTE YES- Lenny Lopez- says no to more spending, including the Bond Election! Quote: "I'm against the bond," he said. "We have vacant buildings within our city that could be updated and utilized without spending $16 million."

HURST BOND ELECTION - NO - here's my (Cindy's) reasoning -(1) Most of the previous projects have run over cost...so they have a track record of over-spending or under budgeting for their projects - why will this be any different? (2) Also, the BOND of $16.5 Mil. is over 40 years, costing the city way too much in interest. (3) Also, the prospective loan is allowed to have ANY INTEREST RATE WHATSOEVER, and may be FIXED OR FLOATING...at the DISCRETION OF THE CITY COUNCIL...and may ALLOW CITY COUNCIL to RAISE YOUR PROPERTY TAXES to fund this - and no one knows what their taxes will be raised to. CAN TAXPAYERS REALLY AFFORD to give City Council BLANK CHECK?
(4) One more reason NOT to vote for the BOND- Hurst already has $78 MIL in bond obligations! More than 1MILLION DOLLARS FOR EVERY CITIZEN IN HURST!

========================================

EULESS:

2 Places: 5 & 6

Place 5 VOTE YES for Tea Party Candidate: Jay B. Jenson - he got a late start, and is the challenger - let's help a fellow Tea Party guy get in there and mix things up!

Place 6 VOTE YES for Conservative (more conservative than the incumbent)- Lorren Britton.  Not necessarily Tea Party, but the more conservative choice.

(The Euless recommendations were given me by member Darl Easton, who watches Euless like a Hawk! Thanks Darl!)

Blessings to all  -
