5000YR Leap Wrap Up ~ COMMON SENSE Kick off Book Discussion

Panera Bread Shelton (map)

Selected By: Linda

We will wrap up our discussion of the 5000 Year Leap....but keep it close at hand, as we will be needing to revisit this one again and again to guide us...
NEW BOOK DISCUSSION...Glenn Beck's COMMON SENSE

The Case Against an Out-of-Control Government, Inspired by Thomas Paine

"If you believe it's time to put principles above parties, character above campaign promises, and Common Sense above all -- then I ask you to read this book...."

Nearly two and a half centuries after Thomas Paine's masterpiece changed America forever, Glenn Beck revisits it with one purpose: to galvanize Americans to see past government's easy solutions, two-part monopoly, and illogical methods and take back our great country

BRING AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN FIND....THIS IS AN IMPORTANT BOOK

Unfortunately we are unable to meet at Written Words Bookstore on Tuesdays, and Tuesdays seems to be the best day for everyone to meet.

Our first meeting will be at Panera, Bridgeport Ave. Shelton.

READ: From ther front cover to page 20 for our kick off to this book.

The meeting was weird this time around. We were totally off the topic but we didn't expect what happened. I hope people don't stop coming because it has been very enjoyable in the past.

Sarah and Kim I agree totally! We were hijacked! We will get back on topic the next meeting. The meeting place was not ideal. I will be looking for another spot to meet where we are comfortable, and we all can hear each other. My apologies to all who were turned off by this meeting, I promise to make the next as enjoyable as our past meetings.

I had my doubts whether this book would lend itself well to group discussion--after all, we all pretty much agree with it. However, we didn't even really get to talk much about it. The takeover of the meeting by Linda (NOT the fabulous leader of our 9/12 group!) was tedious and unrelated to our topic. And when she announced that she believes 9/11 was an inside job, I nearly walked out. After several more minutes of listening to her, I finally did leave. I appreciated hearing the opinions of some of those who were there-- especially the younger people--but am feeling very frustrated right now and am not sure I'll return in two weeks. I don't think this meeting was the appropriate venue for what took place tonight.
