HEllo 904 Fit Club!!!
TEAM HECK is walking in honor of Nena Heck. Nena, Amy's Heck's mom (Amy Heck is a fellow 904 Fit Club member), was diagnosed with ALS on February 6, 2013. Our team is committed to raising money to support my family and other people in our community with ALS and spread awareness of the urgency to find treatment and a cure. Please consider joining our team in the Walk to Defeat ALS® or choose a team member from the list and donate to our cause.
Why We Need Your Help
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease yet it still costs loved ones an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.
And more so----- get your fundraising self in gear and get the word out to help us meet our team goals! We're striving to raise $750 for our team---funds for research, for advocacy, and for patient services.
We'll meet at 9am to check in at Seven Bridges. The walk begins at 10:00 am and is two miles. (Seriously, it's a mere two miles, so no excuses-----get up and get out and get moving) Even Jana, says she will most likely be walking it and she had hip surgery in January!! :)
As members of Team Heck, please wear a blue shirt on the day of the walk.

In addition to saying you're a "yes" on this meet up page, you also must register on the Walk to Defeat ALS team page. Once you do that, you'll also have tools to use to help you raise funds for this cause.
