Critique Meeting

Hi Everyone, please join us for our weekly critique meeting. We are holding this every Saturday afternoon at Vie de Boheme Winery (which is open to all ages). They have a great back room that can be closed off from the rest of the restaurant so it's an ideal place for reading aloud.

We are using a read-aloud format. If you wish to have your work critiqued, please bring a short piece or chapter (about 2-3 double-spaced pages) to read out loud to the group. It can be any genre, including non-fiction or poetry, but we do ask that the material be PG-13 as we are in a public place and don't put age restrictions on our writers. You don't have to read - you can show up to listen and critique or just listen. We don't have set time limits on critiques - all we ask is that you be mindful of how many readers are reading after you so that everyone gets a chance to read. We don't charge for the meetings, but we do ask that everyone buy something to support the venue so they let us come back. :)

Please RSVP so we have an accurate count to give the restaurant.

Such a pretty place to meet up and discuss writing, how could I resist? I'm excited to hear what other's are writing and a bit nervous to share my work. (This will be the first time that I've meet with a group like this, and really, the first time I've shared any of my book.)

Hello April, we will be glad to have you. Looking forward to hearing your work. What's your book about? What genre?

The book is about a headstrong, if lonely woman who has the ability to see ghosts, but is losing control as the ghosts begin to overwhelm her. She runs away to Astoria, Oregon and becomes involved in saving a haunted penny arcade, all the while finding connections with friends and family that she never expected, but desperately needed. I'd like to think its literary fiction, but...
