As a member of the SJAA I was there to give the public views through my Coronado PST. Very popular with them and we had an incredible turnout. I had a line 30 people deep for over 2 hours.

Fabulous. Thank you to everyone who brought scopes and shared glasses and information with us.

Great turnout... I was hoping to find someone with a hydrogen-alpha telescope, but I wasn't sure anyone brought one... there were, however, plenty of telescopes with nickel-chromium filters attached... I was able to use one of the Ni-Cr filtered scopes to view the eclipse near its peak... tree shadows even offered an interesting display... awesome!

Even though we NEVER figured out how to operate our telescope, the event was the most fun we've had in months!

Will you have solar glasses for sale?

Yes, it's a public event, so come one, come all. And it's free, too, courtesy of the SJAA! 5PM is the official start time, ends around 7:30 or so, but you can show up anytime. The set up point will be on the north end of the park, near the tennis courts.

This is a public event that starts at 5PM, right? So can we come by at any time? Are we (this group) meeting at a particular time or spot?

An eclipse is sort of a gradual event that happens while the moon slides in front of the sun. What you'll see depends on where you are. Check out NASA's eclipse site for some interactive info.
