"THE CAROUSEL" A Poetry Based Stage Play

The Carousel: E-flyer

Mark Squared Studios Presents The
Carousel A Poetry Based Musical Stage Play by Herbert Bowens Jr.

In Celebration of National Poetry Month 2013,
Mark SQuared Studios presents a Poetry Based Musical Stage Play, "The Carousel" by Herbert Bowens Jr. "The Carousel" tells the story of Cierra--a creative young lady who can't seem to live up to her full potential--when she is transported to a magical place where unfulfilled dreams live. While discovering "The Carousel" Cierra meets Ma Stanza and other Carousel inhabitants who inspire her to finish what she starts, believe in her dreams, and fight to find her voice in life. However, before she can return home, Cierra must utilize her poetry and rhyming skills to outwit a poetry slam team in the most critical and challenging battle of her life. "The Carousel" combines elements of music, poetry, and dance to portray its dynamic story.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit Atlanta's Fine Arts, Chess, Technology and Students (F.A.C.T.S) Academy. F.A.C.T.S educational philosophy is based on its belief in the effectiveness of arts integration and a school wide chess program. Brain scientists have documented that when a teacher combines the arts with the academics, he/she not only stimulates greater learning potential and intelligence, but also supports the psychological development of confidence and self esteem, both of which lead to deeper emotional commitment to learning.
