I love doing fast, although this one wasn't my best. I'm getting ready for November's (11 day fast). This really is good for me with all the entertaining around the Holiday. I hope to see everyone next month on the fast as well. Remember the base is food, but there are other things we can fast from. Example: Negative people, drink more water, and speaking nothing but positive talk. Ladies.....Enjoy everyday like it's a holiday.

    Common Detox Symptoms

•Cravings - You will most likely crave the most toxic foods for your body. Everybody is different. It's similar to a smoker trying to quit smoking or an alcoholic trying to stop drinking. That's all your body wants both physically and mentally. It's the same with food!

•Fatigue - When your body is fighting the toxins, all your energy goes into healing. This can leave you feeling exhausted.

•Irritability - This is mostly mental. You're not hungry, but may be used to eating something out of boredom. This causes stress and irritability.

    (You might experience this)

    YOU READY............Let's Begin

    October 1, 2013

Prepare what you are going to eat for the next 10 days. Especially the Women who are working. Do you plan to juice? Take the time to prepare. Please post some of your vegan or live food recipes. Some people are doing just a juice fast.

    Example:
    6 Kale Leaves
    1 Cucumber
    4 Celery Stalks
    2 Green apples
1/2 Lemon 1 Piece of ginger (about the size of your thumb)
Juice the lemon and ginger first.

Make your kitchen your laboratory for the next 10 days. Don't forget your water intake. I drink 1/2 my body weight in water daily. That is what's recommended. Take a 20-30 minute walk daily or some sort of exercise. Good luck, stay focus, and let us know how you are doing.
Tell us what you ate or juiced through out the fast to encourage everybody else. Even if you fall off tell us that as well. All we do is jump right back in. Don't forget to go back to the discussions/message board for more recipes from our 3,4,5,6,7,8 day fast.

    Stay Focus!!!

If you are having problems fasting from food. Try fasting from
negative people, cursing, alcohol, and sweets. Fast food restaurant like burger king etc. Stop spending money on things you don't really need. See how much you can save. Try doing a quiet fast. Everybody doesn't always have to hear what you THINK they need to hear. Try speaking nothing but positive things for the next 10 days. Even if your mad you still have to say something positive.

Let us know how you are feeling each day.

    (Part 1)

    Organized Drive

You may feel driven and determined to accomplish your goals today. You might also feel very confident. While your drive could benefit you greatly in achieving your goals, you might want to give some thought to the areas you want to devote your attention to first. Coming up with an organized plan and putting it into action step by step will help you maximize your efforts. You might also want to envision your desired outcome in full detail today. This will allow you to proceed with a stronger focus and reduce the possibility of getting off track or becoming sidelined by unexpected challenges. You’ll know what you need to do and can focus on doing it.

    September 30, 2013

  • Carmen

    (Part 2)

Choosing a specific focus for our ambition and proceeding in an organized, efficient manner can help us achieve our goals with ease. We often get so excited and motivated to accomplish our objectives that we neglect to formulate a solid plan for achieving them. If we can take just a few moments to come up with a strong, detailed plan, we can pursue our goals with greater focus because we have a clear objective in mind. This gives us the confidence and clarity to overcome challenges that may arise. As you pursue your goals today, consider and plan for your desired outcome, and you will be able to more easily achieve your ambition.

    FAT FLUSH WATER !!!

You should drink at least three 8 oz glasses per day, they say the longer it sits, the better it tastes. You can eat them as well but they are intended as flavoring and still work, so that is a personal choice. The Vitamin C turns fat into fuel, the tangerine increases your sensitivity to insulin, and the cucumber makes you feel full. Try it for 10 days and see what you think!

    Ingredients per 8 oz serving

    Water 8 oz
    1 slice grapefruit
    1 tangerine
    ½ cucumber, sliced
    2 peppermint leaves
Ice – as much as you like

    Directions
Wash grapefruit, tangerine cucumber and peppermint leaves. Slice cucumber, grapefruit and tangerine (or peel). Combine all ingredients (fruits, vegetables, 8 oz water, and ice) into a large pitcher.

    Stir & Enjoy!

    Kale Salad

Description: Another twist on kale salad. We eat kale most every day. Variety is the spice of life and this version has plenty of spice. This is a spicy creamy dressing with a smoky flavor. Make it as spicy (or not) as you like! This is my party kale. I usually take it or serve it at parties. Add other veggies such as broccoli to make this a heartier main dish.

Ingredients: 1 Bunch Kale torn into bite sized pieces

1/2 small red onion sliced very thin

¼ cup diced sun dried tomatoes, soaked for ½ hour in water and then drained

    1 avocado chopped

    2 garlic cloves minced

    2 TBL Nama Shoyu

    2 TBL agave nectar

    Juice of ½ lemon

    3 TBL olive oil

    1/3 cup Nutritional Yeast

    1 TBL Dulse Flakes

    1 TBL Italian Seasoning

½ - 1 tsp Chipotle Chili powder (more or less to taste)

Orange, Avacado, Spinach Salad This salad recipe kind of sounded like an odd combination when I first tried it, but the flavors actually mesh pretty well together. The sweetness from the orange goes nicely with the tangyness of the lime and creaminess of the avocado. Ingredients:
    •1 orange
    •1 Tbsp olive oil
    •1 Tbsp lime juice
    •Dash of sea salt
    •2 cups baby spinach
    •1 avocado, sliced
    •Black pepper Directions:
1.Section the orange and use a knife to cut off the skin from the sections. Try to drizzle any remaining juice into a small bowl.
2.In the small bowl containing the orange juice, whisk together the remaining juice, olive oil, lime juice, and sea salt.
3.In a serving bowl, add spinach and sliced avocado. Pour dressing over top and gently toss. Sprinkle with black pepper.

Yellow Sunrise Sorbet Smoothie (low-fat, raw vegan) Recipe ■8 Yellow or purple passion fruit
■4 frozen bananas (or fresh – but if you want the sorbet feel, frozen is best)
■1 knob of turmeric (I add quite a lot and it tastes amazing with the lilikoi)
■2 dates Place all ingredients in a high-powered blender and blend until smooth. You can crack open another lilikoi for a nice aesthetic topping, but it’s not necessary.

Start to wean yourself off (sugar, coffee, cigarettes, alcohol, and other stimulants ), meats, fish, and dairy. It is easy to say your going to do this, but are you really ready? Some are!!!! Be accountable to yourself. For some of us this can be life changing. Just remember this is your fast. If you just give up sweets, you did something. You can always push to do more, just stay focus. Don't forget to exercise, a 30 minute walk, if you only do 10 minutes, pat yourself on the back. I am elated that everyone wants to make a healthy change in their life. Thank you in advance for helping me and all who are apart of this journey.

    Raw Vegan Mango 'Cheesecake'
    Here's the recipe:

    Pie Crust
    ...
1/2 cup of pitted deglet dates
1/2 cup of pitted medjool dates
    1/2 cup of almonds
    1/2 cup of walnuts
A pinch of Himalayan pink salt

Blend in a food processor until a sticky consistency is achieved. Press into a pie dish.

    Pie Filling

    2 cups of cashews
    3/4 cup of coconut oil
    1/4 cup of agave
    1/4 cup of lemon juice
1 teaspoon of vanilla bean powder or extract
    3 peaches
    3 mangos

Blend until smooth adding a bit of water if necessary. High speed blenders work best for this, otherwise you'll have to blend a lot longer to achieve a smooth consistency.

Pour filling on top of pie crust and place in the freezer for a few hours until the filling is solid. Or you can place in your refrigerator overnight.
