We're back in Baltimore, and continuing still with our trend of trying new places.
Venue:
Taco Spot
1118 South Charles Street
Baltimore, MD 21230
Driving Directions:
Take I-95 to exit 53, I-395 north. Follow I-395 into the city, and make a right at the first traffic light, Conway Street. Follow Conway Street until it ends at Light Street, and turn right onto Light Street, staying to the right side as you do. A few blocks down, you'll want to stay in the right lane to remain on Light Street (the left two lanes end up turning left onto Key Highway). Continue several blocks down, and after passing the Cross Street Market to your right, make the next right onto West Street. Park in the parking garage on the right (West Street Garage). Upon exiting the garage onto West Street, walk one block west on West Street to Charles Street, and you will see the Taco Spot.
Carpool Alert! For our DC-area friends, we will be happy to organize carpools from various metro stations or other locations, as always, using the comment section below!
Transit Directions:
The Taco Spot is directly off the Charles/West and Charles/Cross stops on the Charm City Circulator's Purple Route (which is free for all passengers and runs every 15 minutes).
From Light Rail (8 minute walk): Get off at the Hamburg Street station and walk east on Hamburg Street (i.e., away from the football stadium) about six blocks to Charles Street. Turn right onto Charles Street, and the Taco Spot is a block and a half down on the right side.
From Amtrak/Penn Station: After exiting Penn Station, turn to the left and walk to St. Paul Street, and you will see a Charm City Circulator bus stop. Take the next Circulator bus, which will run all the way down St. Paul/Light Street through the Inner Harbor and into the Federal Hill neighborhood. Stay on the bus until it turns off of Light Street and onto Ostend Street, and it will then turn immediately onto northbound Charles Street. As soon as it turns onto Charles Street, get off at the next stop, and you will see the Taco Spot on the same block across the street.
I'm not completely sure if I'm going to have my car that weekend (I need to take it to the mechanic that Friday), but perhaps someone else who is coming from the DC area may be able to do a pick-up at Greenbelt?
I have to drive myself anyway, so I can pick up some people. Are we perhaps considering dinner at the Helmand?
I'm making the trek from Greenbelt that weekend, too, so I can also drive people from/to that end of the green line.
(Also, someone remind me to share the story of why, exactly, I'm up at 3am tonight, logged on from a hotel room in Florida. It should earn me an AVEN lifetime membership card.) XD
Kevin, f you can pick me up at Greenbelt (it seems closer coming from the yellow line), it would be appreciated and if so, at what time should I try to arrive?
Baltimore is an hour away from Greenbelt, so I'd say we'd depart from the metro at about noon. ... Although, I just realized driving up from Greenbelt requires driving into the city and parking and what-not, which I'm precisely no good at. So as not to drive (heh) myself and y'all nuts, and potentially get us all maimed or killed, I request the #3 spot on the potential driver list.
There's a chance I may be able to drive from DC, in which case I will post an updated comment here during the week. Otherwise, this particular area of the city is very easy to reach when coming from the south (it's all right turns when coming from I-395).
So regardless of who's driving and if Roger is not driving from DC is greenbelt still okay then?
If a carpool driver is averse to driving in the city, you might consider parking at a light rail station and making everyone take the light rail in. It should run late enough on Saturdays for everyone to get back out; if worse comes to worse, I'll drive people back to the carpool car.
I'm fine driving in Baltimore ;p And I can pick up people from Greenbelt.
Looks like I should be able to drive, after all, so I'll leave it up to Sawicki as to whether she will still drive (in which case I may ride with), or if she would rather I drive.
So far, the DC carpool consists of:
Alcy
Kevin
Sawicki
Rebecca
Roger
Sawicki, I assume from your comment that you still plan on driving? In which case I'd also ride...
FYI, DC Metro's going to be kind of a mess this weekend, more than usual. Every line except Blue has something happening to it:

Awww, bummer for you :( But good for me! :) Wait a minute, you're not just saying you'll get sick because of my lack of driving skillz, are you? :/ Would it be very far out of your way for you to pick me up at my place? Or is there someplace closer to you where I could meet you? It would take me forever and a day to get all the way over to Greenbelt on metro this weekend...
I don't know Roger, now that you mention it, I DO always get sick in your car -_o I can pick you up at your house. Also, I'm bringing surprise noms.
Uh-oh, surprise noms... oh wait, it's Sawicki. Sawicki's surprise noms are delicioso. :)
Also, carpoolers who are worried about getting home on the broke-down Metro, you're welcome to crash at my place...
Thanks for a great time! I look forward to meeting with you guys again, and yes, I think I would like to see the 'finer' side of DC as well. : )
Can you carpool, Roger?
