Lunch, Games, Dinner, and More Madness

This location is shown only to members

Join us for the latest installment in what was formerly known as the "Lunch and Games Meetup" series, but whose name has since been updated to reflect more accurately the true nature of these gatherings.  The initial meeting point will be the Lebanese Taverna Café in Rockville Town Center, and we will later proceed to my abode for some board/card games, with a dinner outing later on to the nearby Temari Japanese Café.  For the games, please feel free to bring your favorite games - we're usually up for just about anything.

The directions to the Lebanese Taverna at Rockville Town Square are below - please take note that this is NOT the Lebanese Taverna in Congressional Plaza on Rockville Pike, even though they are both in Rockville. The directions to my apartment (also in the Rockville area, about 15 minutes from the Lebanese Taverna either by car or by metro) will be provided at lunch (or if you are unable to come to lunch but want to join us for games, send me a message and I will send you directions).

Lebanese Taverna
115 Gibbs Street
Rockville, MD 20850

Driving Directions: Take I-270 to Exit 5, Route 189 (Falls Road). When the exit splits, go north on Falls Road (toward Rockville Town Center). Continuing north, the road becomes Maryland Avenue. Continue on Maryland Avenue past the intersection with Route 28 (Jefferson Street). Once you pass this intersection, you will be in Rockville Town Center (the road becomes a brick road within the town center). Continue straight through the next four-way stop sign (Courthouse Square) and the following signal (Middle Lane). Once you pass the Gordon Biersch, you can park in any of the parking garages with a blue "P" sign. Please be sure to bring your parking ticket with you to be validated at Lebanese Taverna (validated parking is free for up to two hours, which should be just enough to cover the time we will be spending at Lebanese Taverna).  Upon exiting the garage, walk into the main square area and you will see Lebanese Taverna on the left side of the square in the far corner.

Metro Directions: Lebanese Taverna is a 7-minute walk from the Rockville metro station on the Red Line. Upon exiting the faregates at the Rockville station, take the exit on the left side (toward Town Center). Walk up the stairs into the pedestrian overpass and continue across the overpass and keep walking straight until you come down some stairs. At this point, continue over the crosswalk across Monroe Street and walk underneath the covered sidewalk straight ahead (you will pass Giuseppi's Pizza, Potbelly, the Regal Cinema, and some other restaurants). At the end of the block, you'll get to a four-way stop intersection - this will be Maryland Avenue. Turn right onto Maryland Avenue and walk one block to the signal with Middle Lane. Continue straight across Middle Lane (you will see Gordon Biersch on the right side) and you will come to the main town square. Turn left into the square and continue to the far end of the square and you will see Lebanese Taverna on the left side.

although i arrived about 6 hrs after the meetup began, i was welcomed in with open arms and found a place that had some pretty sweet chicken livers and very potent water. i must say, it was a pretty good night.

Thanks again for another great meet-up. I can go to work tomorrow and feel like I had a full weekend, and continue to ignore the stick-in-the-muds I work with! : )
