Open to all Santa Cruz and nearby communities. 4th Saturday evening every month starting 8 pm going till about 9;30 - 10 pm. Calling in the directions, shamanic drumming, send distance healing, personal and group cleansing, journeying, power dancing, divination... A good way to get introduced to shamanism, and for those who are familiar with these practices and spiritual approach, a friendly and grounded way to maintain the practices. 3 dollars donation (please!) to give to the Quaker Center which lets us use the space. Located at the Santa Cruz Quaker Center at 225 Rooney Street, Santa Cruz.
Bring a blanket or small rug to lay on the floor (otherwise it is hard), pillow if you want, something to rest over your eyes during journeying to shield yourself from any light, your drums and rattles, and personal sacred items if you want to lay them on the alter during the gathering.
Gatherings were initially led by Dr. Steve Serr, ex-psychologist-turned-shamanic-mentor. Steve was not only passionate about regathering the ancient ways and wisdom that grew from our ancestral understandings of our natural relationship with a sacred Earth, but has been encouraging this group to continue evolving shamanism and Earth-centered spirituality curriculum to meet the needs of the contemporary era.
For a period of time (unknown! Depends on how many become involved!) Steve and his mentors who teach at Shamanism 101 are letting members of the Santa Cruz Shamanic Spirituality Circle take their online shamanic training course, which is pretty much the same as what Steve was teaching in his circles at the Quaker Meeting House in Santa Cruz. Information about this is tacked below.
His dream and goal is that this circle becomes self-governing and maintaining, and takes the training through Shamanism 101 so that they can easily facilitate for themselves what Steve was facilitating.
What are for now monthly gatherings, provide Santa Cruz and the surrounding communities with the sacred space for personal and group healing and wellness based on safe and time-honored shamanic and Earth-centered spiritual practices and protocols.
Ethical, accurate and safe protocols of practice need to be passed forward that rely on the 'core' shamanic elements from throughout the world and over history, and rest on a recognition and relationship with a sacred Earth from which our indigenous wellness and shamanic healing practices come.
