RA 301 LA Marathon Le 22 Tour de Beaches ALL CHAPTER Perfect Practice Run

LA Marathon Countdown as of 2/10/14: 26 Days!

This is IT, LA Marathon Hill Crushers and Take Oprah Down Running Beasts! Your ALL CHAPTER RACE DAY PERFECT PRACTICE RUN is HERE. Coach Armando, Coach Bill, Coach Ray, Running Academy Directors Michelle  & Joy and I want you to treat this with all the gravitas  of race day. Meaning that you will be at Edison Community Center well before 6 a.m. to find parking, prep your gear and help out your fellow runners. We want you mentally and physically simulating race day conditions so that this is really comfortable for you in 26 days.

Our course will take us to Newport Beach and then to the Bolsa Chica State Beach entrance with the aid station at the 2000 block of PCH. We will provide specific directions later this week and the course will be chalked.

This is an ALL CHAPTER RUN meaning that WE are the hosts. As such, I would love to see as much participation from your families and/or friends at the aid station or anywhere along the course with COWBELLS and signage.

If you are not running due to injury or what have you, please come out and support your friends. Aid station helpers can arrive around 8 am - as the course is currently mapped out, runners will be hitting the 2000 block of PCH around mile 12ish and 18-19ish. Additionally, the more volunteers we have, the easier it will be to have an additional aid station in Newport in the early miles. Please contact me if you have family or friends who can help out.

Treat this week like race week (only not as expensive as there is no expo). Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate ALL WEEK. Start carb loading on Thursday - if you have questions about complex carbs please ask your coaches. Try to avoid alcohol by Wednesday. Stay off your feet as much as possible, mind your Valentine's Day celebration rituals (nothing in excess), relax and minimize stress. Coaches orders! Tell your families and friends we said so - these people need to prep for race week just as much as you do. ;)

Thanks to all the Snails who humped it to LA for the Santa Monica to VA Center training run. You guys benefitted tremendously not only by the first 3 miles of "slight incline" (ahem, Armando) running, but by running through the VA. They say "the race starts a mile 20" (I'm gonna kill whoever said that!)- which means your well into your "race" when you hit the VA. You gained a tremendous psychological advantage running this course in reverse and back.

Monday: Easy 3 miles

Tuesday: Medium 5 miles & 20 mins RFT

Wednesday: OFF

Thursday: Medium 5 miles & 20 mins RFT (Valentine's Day & Olympic Spirit Run at Pier at 6pm - please see the MeetUp for details)

Friday: 40 mins RFT and prep for Saturday (easy on the Valentine's Day celebrations there!)

Happy running, my Hill Crusher friends! I'm so excited for you guys I can hardly stand it! :)

I will either join the run (unlikely, but hopeful) or help with the aid station

Awesome, Kristin! Please have him contact Coach Armando. He can help out at 2000 PCH (cross street is about 22nd-ish street) any time after 7am. We'll be on the grass with the big Snail tent.

LA Marathoners: IF you cannot make the Saturday run, Coach Armando and I are coaching Sunday's OCM 16 miler from the community center at 7 a.m. We will happily work with you Sunday if Sunday is a better day for you.
