It's time for Summer-Fun-N-Fitness!
Welcome to Running 102 Monrovia! The next 12 weeks will be a fun and challenging journey. We look forward to not only improving your running efficiency but also providing you the tools to allow you to achieve your health and fitness goals.
The goal race for our Summer Session will be the Race for the rescues 10K on Sunday, October 6th at the fabulous Pasadena Rose Bowl!
Tonight we will go through a 10-15 minute orientation. This will include a brief overview of proper footwear and apparel for running, as well as the introduction to our warm up process that is also a strength conditioning workout. For a preview of the warm up, visit the Files section on this meetup site. Files section is under the heading "More". The handout used for our warm up is Functional Warm-up .
We will then complete a group 40 minute workout. We will be beginning with an interval of run 4/walk 1. Even if you are more advanced in your intervals, please participate in the group workout so you get to know your fellow Snail's!
Once we complete our workout, we will go into our cool down and stretch process. Please bring a bottle of water to drink while we are cooling down.

Ray is a press feeder Operator (printing) at Monarch Litho Inc. in Montebello. He joined the ASP running Academy in January 2011 as an assistant coach for the half marathon training class. He began running as part of a cross country team at Bosco Tech High School. He usually averaged a 7:30 pace and has run eight half marathons averaging 1hr 50 min. He has also run four marathons at an average time of 4 hrs. His running philosophy is you must have a positive attitude. Any negative thoughts will make running more difficult than what it is. “Have Fun!”
