RA 201 Disney All Chapter "I Thought They Said Rum!" 12 Miler in HB

Ahoy! Disney Wenches, Carousers and Bucaneers!

It's time to scrape the barnacles off yer rudders and set sail for the distant shores of Surf City for the Snail's Pace All Chapter "I Thought They Said Rum!" 12 Mile Swashbuclking Adventure! Yer voyage begins at the Edison Community Center where you'll navigate yer way along the Pacific Ocean to Bolsa Chica. Beware the two-wheeled scurvy dogs and other dangers that lurk on your quest for rum…aaaarrrrggghhh…run. Rest, fuel and prepare well before we set off, mateys, or abandon all hope ye who enter the dreaded bonk zone. Treasures await those who dress in pirate attire or try their hands at pirate poker at the grog station. So weigh the anchor and hoist the mizzen! We're headed to Surf City for the biggest rum…run party ever!

Wench Honeybadger's Translation of Above: This is your big, pirate themed dress rehearsal run. Although we encourage you to come bedazzled in Disney or pirate accessories or attire for the group photos, you can also wear what you plan on wearing on race day to test out its performance and comfort. There will indeed be prizes, raffles and Pirate Poker to help keep your wits about you during your long run. The grog/aid station will be located at 2000 PCH, about 4 miles into your run. The trail in HB features SHOWERS along the course. Please use these showers to douse yourself during your run to keep cool.

THE DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO THERE FROM MONROVIA; Take the 605 Frwy. South to the 405 Frwy. South and exit on Magnolia St. and turn right follow Magnolia St. to the Edison Community Center at 21377 Magnolia St. Huntington Beach Ca.

POST RUN: You may want to take an "ice soak" in the Pacific Ocean when you have completed your run. So bring a towel with you.

Some runners like to hang around and hunt down breakfast at the beach post run.  It's possible the other chapters may organize a breakfast  - I'll keep you posted as details become available.

Questions About Disney Half: Please be thinking about any questions you have regarding a Disney race day and fire away at your coaches. Both of us have run the race before and are familiar with the crowd levels and course. It will be an early morning, hot and long day for you. But no one puts together a race as well organized and equipped as Disney. If you have family meeting you at the Family Reunion Area, advise them to bring extra cold drinks, cold towels and anything they can shade themselves and you with. In year's past, the Family Reunion Area has been unshaded and it gets hot just standing around waiting for people. Be sure to check the Run Disney web page for security updates for you and your family members.

If you plan on attending this run please RSVP because there will be personalized items for everyone, so to make sure you get one of these items you need to RSVP so you are not left out. So please RSVP for this run.

This weeks schedule looks like this:

Sunday the 17th. of August - Recovery

Our All Chapter Beach Run might be a very warm run so make sure to hydrate during then week leading up to this run.

Also please pack some sunscreen and lip balm to prevent sun burn.

Because of the heat you should also make use of the showers as you heat up during your run, this is a good way of staying cool on a hot day.

Until next time EAT WELL, HYDRATE and RUN HAPPY!
