Film Night: Dirty Wars

This is a little different type of event however I wanted to post it because this group has so many members and I wanted to branch this out to as many people as I could.

This is a documentary made by Jeremy Scahill is the National Security Correspondent for The Nation magazine and author of the international bestseller Blackwater: The Rise of the World’s Most Powerful Mercenary Army, which won the George Polk Book Award.

It’s the dirty little secret of the War on Terror: all bets are off, and almost anything goes. We have fundamentally changed the rules of the game and the rules of engagement. Today drone strikes, night raids, and U.S. government–condoned torture occur in corners across the globe, generating unprecedented civilian casualties. Investigative reporter Jeremy Scahill (author of BLACKWATER: The Rise of the World's Most Mercenary Army) traces the rise of the Joint Special Operations Command, the most secret fighting force in U.S. history, exposing operations carried out by men who do not exist on paper and will never appear before Congress. No target is off-limits for the JSOC “kill list,” even a U.S. citizen. Director Richard Rowley takes us on a chilling ride with whistle-blower Scahill. Dirty Wars is a battle cry for the soul and conscience of an America few of us know exists.

I do apologize to all that we were not able to meet in such a crowded sold out event, I really made this event to get this film name out there and I'm glad to know others were able to see it!

I look forward to seeing many of you at other events in the coming weeks and months!

    Thanks All!

It was good to see someone telling the truth for a change! Nice to hear Jeremy speak afterward and to know we do have some real journalists that do honest reporting. Unfortunately, we don't see this in mainstream media these days, so most people don't have a clue as to what is really happening!

Just a heads up to all, it is confirmed that Jeremy Scahill will be speaking - doing a Q & A about the book/film Dirty Wars - he is doing this following the 7:30 showing, and will be introducing the 9:40 showing, it is recommended that anyone attending if possible to pick up your tickets before Friday evening - this according to the people at the Downer Theater. I know this may be an issue for some of you, I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. I was told that tickets are available online or over the phone @[masked] and online available at:

    www.lamdmarktheatres.com

Under the Milwaukee page. (With what I was told is a $1 convenience charge)

Since the showing is early and is likely to be packed I would think its best to arrive early for both time to park, walk to the theatre, and possibly wait in line. If any of you have any questions and or concerns regarding this event please feel free to reach out to myself via email or the comments wall.

    Thanks all!

Jeremy Scahill is apparently going to be in Milwaukee Friday for this film screening, I will be following up on this for more information to find out what the exact or more specific details are, please stay tuned - however if this is true it could cause more people to come out, I will be arriving at the downer early to buy a ticket, I will be updating this comments section regarding more details as soon as I learn them. Thanks all!

I'm new to this group, and am wondering if anyone is going to meet somewhere before so we can meet each other. That would be nice!

I post any updates for this as they are known, for now I do not have an exact film time, it's likely it will be the 7 pm showing or around that time and there are plenty of places in this area to go to if anyone would like to discuss the film afterwards.
