We'll have 2 Event Hosts for this Meetup. This is because this is a Meetup over a whole weekend and we want to make sure that everything goes to plan!
Hi Alan, Elaine
Not sure if i can go that weekend yet but the itinerary sounds great, never been myself but have heard people taking about Shandon Bells. you'd know if its worth including.
@ Mark there'll be 2 translators in the form of myself and Alan. @ Simon..travel and accommodation would be trickier over a bank holiday weekend we'll just need to have massive power breakfasts on Sat & Sun : P @Angelina - Shandon made the cut and is now on the list
Full plan now added above. Meetup scheduled for 26 March in The Foam Cafe (near Jervis) 7pm to 9pm for anyone going on this meetup or anyone interested in finding out more info.
Hi Alan,
I can't make that meeting on the 26th because of other commitments. Will you be posting any decisions or FAQ plus answer, or whatever might come out of it after? Thanks Paula
We will have a meetup Monday 2 April 645pm to 9pm in The Foam Cafe (near Jervis) so that anyone who intends going to Cork can ask Elaine and myself whatever questions you might have. PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DATE. (I double booked myself for Mon 26 March so moved to Mon 02 April)
If anyone has any questions on this meetup, please feel free to add them here or email me or Elaine.
Hi Paula, we can post the recommendations and what was discussed.. I'll probably post it as a forum
Please note change from train to the Aircoach Express non stop service to Cork. 22 euro return. 3 hour journey.
I'd be quite interested in this but as I live in Skerries, it would probably be easier for me to drive down on the Friday night and back on the Sunday. Would I be able to just meet up with you all on the Saturday morning when you arrive in Cork?
Where will I meet you in Cork on Saturday morning and what time?
Hi Trish I don't see any problem with that. Paul the aircoach stops On the quays a little bit down from the train station. What time is your train due in ? I can probably meet you when walking people to their hostel
Train arrives in Cork at 10.45am. That would be great if you could meet me. My number is 0876580499. Would it be possible to have your number in case there is any delays from either end. thanks a million.
Hi Paul we will arrive at 11am approx. Once we know where everyone is staying I'll advise on where I can meet you
My number is 0867236720 will be including that in any future communications re Cork anyway
I'll probably go down on Fri night. Definitely not an early riser :)
I do not know where you got your train fare price of 65 euro return from it is only 20 euro return.
Hi Paul. Thanks for that. All the trains are indeed 20 euro return!! I have no idea why they're so cheap, they're usually much dearer! I've never seen them that cheap! I'll check with Elaine to see do we change back to the train. Update to follow asap.
Nice 1 Thanks that would be great if we could all go down on the train together and come back on the train together
Changed to the train. Special offer now means the train is cheaper than the bus. PLEASE BOOK YOUR TRAIN TICKETS ASAP TO AVAIL OF THE 10 EURO OFFER.
The train fare is normally around the €65 price quoted by Alan. The €20 fares are aspecial offer so I recommend that everyone act fast to avail of the offer. If you plan on driving or are travelling down on the Friday can you please update your RSVP to reflect that. I've now booked a ticket for the train leaving heuston at 8am Saturday and returning 6.30pm on the Sunday
I would appreciate it if you could all send me an email with the following information
1. What day to intend on travelling?
2. How do you intend to travel .. Train/ aircoach / car
3. Where do you intend staying ? Have you made a confirmed
4. Your phone number
Once you've sent me the email could I also ask that you update your RSVP to say travel & accom booked
13 days to go... Again can anyone who has not confirmed to Elaine or myself the answers to the 4 questions above can you do so asap please. There is no limit on the number of people attending this meetup. All we ask is that anyone going tells us what you're doing. Thanks. A.
Hi Elaine,
My name is Severine and I don't think we've met before as I have attended only one meetup with the Sober slice of Dublin. I really look forward to this weekend away to Cork. I think I will be travelling with Aircoach early Saturday morning. I have already booked a bed in the Bru Bar Hotel where I've stayed twice before and my phone number is 086 407 30 43. I think I have yours and Allan's as well. Thank you very much for your time in organizing this great weekend. Take care, Sev
RSVPs for this event will close Friday the 11th @11pm. 4 days to sign up! A.
