We know, it's a little cliche, but with such a sweet "holiday" in the middle of the month, we figured why not stretch it out to last the whole month? Why not make it the celebration of the event and not just the end of a meal? And since we love a good challenge, what better theme of food as dessert is not limited to sweets but includes a wide variety of food including cakes, cookies, biscuits, gelatins, pastries, ice creams, pies, puddings and candies. Show off your cooking (or non cooking) skills and bring a dish to be sampled by all. There will be a no pressure anonymous paper slip vote by those that attend the event (you can vote even if you don't bring a dish) to determine the night's favorite dessert (and prize winner).
Kevin has generously offered to make the winner (determined by votes of people at the event) homemade ice cream in a flavor of their choice. FYI, Kevin has made fried-chicken ice cream & bacon chocolate sorbet in the past, so please do feel free to push the limits of your imagination when making your selection. ;)
The Challenge is a month long focus on one particular project or material. It's a chance to break out of your comfort zone and learn some new skills and provide ample opportunity for topics of discussion. On the last day of the month, we'll meet somewhere to show off our awesome projects, pick a winner (oh yeah, there's totally a prize involved), eat and mingle.
