AAII Atlanta January Meetup "Positioning Your Portfolio to Generate Sustainable"

6:30 pm – Registration
7:00 pm – Keynote Speaker –
Mitch Reiner
7:45 pm - Q & A Time

For his presentation, Mitch will be talking about CIA’s approach to income investing and how you can begin thinking about how to get more CASH FLOW out of your investments.  There a number of asset categories to consider and it is about understanding each category (REITs, closed end funds, MLPs, bonds, etc.) and how it moves in relation to another category and the effect that the market has on their distributions.  The goal of an income portfolio is to generate a SUSTAINABLE income despite market volatility.  Mitch will discuss CIA’s basic “Bucket Approach” of allocating your assets and then diversifying appropriately within each bucket will be the focus of the conversation.  Further, Mitch will outline some of the asset classes that make-up the income bucket and the characteristics that are crucial to examine in order to identify an opportunity within each category.

I have been using CEFs for income for several months now after reading Steve Selengut's excellent book, "The Brainwashing of the American Investor." Mitch Reiner gave us great information for income, covering CEFs, dividend stocks and preferred stocks. The program was excellent.

Good topic, good speaker! Sustainable income is "job-one" in todays low interest rate environment. Speaker Mitch Reiner discussed at least three insights that I was able to empliment in the next couple of days.

Mitch Reiner was an excellent presenter with incredible knowledge of income investing. I have listened to their WSB program on income investing but this presentation really made it clear. Shows the limits of radio for something like this that seems simple but is actually more complex. I would suggest using the "Pure Black and White" mode for printing slides as a handout.

Very practical, but not too basic for us. Would like to see similar meetups, such as researching MLPs, REITs, etc.

Mitch Reiner covered the topic very well. Sustainable income is a relatively safe method of generating wealth over the long run.

Excellent speaker and subject matter. Way too much time spent on housekeeping, administrative matters (we've heard it all before and it's printed on the handout.) Just point to the handout and move on to the program.
