Formerly Computer-Aided Investing, the new name better reflects what we've been doing for the last few years: having interesting conversations about all sorts of topics in the investing world.  Techniques, tips, training, securities, commodities, indexes, forex, computer programs, ETFs, ETC...  Whatever our members are interested in and bring to the table.  The agenda for each meeting is announced about a week before the meeting.

CAI-SIG is moving towards having meetings on a less regular schedule because our current meeting place (the community room of the Northwest Library) is being scheduled for more library events and is less available for community events.  

Our upcoming meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 14, in the community room of Northwest Library at NW 23rd and NW Thurman Street, Portland, from 6pm to 7:45 pm.

Sr. Rene' writes the following about the upcoming meeting--

CAI will meet at the NW Library, NW 23rd and Thurman St., in Portland, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 14, 2012, from 6:00 PM to 7:45 PM. At the last meeting we agreed to tighten up the meeting process, so 6:00 to 6:15 PM will be the social 1/4 hour, and set up and  chat time.  The agenda will begin at 6:15 PM, with the prepared presenter(s) going first.  So if you are late you will miss something!

The agenda is MEMBERS CONTRIBUTIONS.

1. Robert volunteered talk (about 10 minutes he said) on his spreadsheet for tracking Turtle Trading.

2. Another person (who's name I didn't write down) said he could talk about day trading in Q's - a 10 step program (The Hare?)

3. Presentation and discussion about the location and scheduling of future meetings because the Library is having much more activity scheduled in its conference room:

FYI, on upcoming meeting locations:

a. Marlin secured the library conference room for Wednesday, April 18, 2012.

b. Sr. Rene' acquired  information from the library administration on the prospects for stability in scheduling at our current location.

c. A couple of members suggested some new meeting locations to consider.  Please bring others if you have them. 

d. A resident of Terwilliger Plaza, David F. Tufenkian, invited us to consider meeting at Terwilliger Plaza in Portland.  Gary Hewitt met with him and the program director. Gary and Sr. Rene' will have information on the location and its amenities, so we can decide if we want to accept that invitation.

AAII is the American Association of Individual Investors, an independent, non-profit group that offers materials and events to help individual investors.  At CAI-SIG meetings, we discuss all sorts of investing topics -- for example, methods and techniques in investing, how different indexes are generated and used, the current economy and finance environment, and, yes, sometimes even a computer program or website or two.

The general meetings for the Portland AAII chapter are the third Tuesday of every odd month. The next one is Tuesday, March 20, where Ken Fisher, CEO of Fisher Investments, will be speaking on "Markets Never Forget" at Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel, 8235 NE Airport Way.  The one beyond that is May 15.  Stay tuned for details!
