I have had an account with Fidelity for many years and I do most of my trading with them. But it was only recently that I decided to take a look at their more advanced trading platforms. Their most advanced trading platform is called Wealth-Lab Pro. If you make at least 120 trades per year with Fidelity, the software is free. You can also download a 30 day trial. The software can be used on the web or as a desktop application on a Windows PC. With Wealth-Lab Pro you can download stock data from 5 different sources, create trading strategies, perform backtests, get alerts, trade via Fidelity, as well as auto-trade. Trading strategies can be constructed using a simple drag and drop of prebuilt widgets, using a high level Wealth-Lab scripting language, or using C# which is the native language of the application. There are also 26 pre-built trading strategies to get you started right away. The backtest module contains performance results, maximum drawdown, profit/loss ( also compared to a buy/hold strategy), equity curve, list of trades, and chart(s) of the underlying stock(s) annotated with the buys and sells. It also has an optimization feature that allows you to vary the parameters of the strategy across a range of values and performs the backtests across each parameter set automatically. This is pretty powerful software and it comes free for Fidelity active traders.
