Crystal City Boardgaming Bash!

This Sunday, November 3rd, I want to get some good folk together for some boardgaming!

Feel free to come with your own collection (or just play whatever's there), and bring a little food, snack, or drink to share!

The games that I own and will bring to the event are as follows:

-Battlestar Galactica

-Mansions of Madness

-City of Horror

-Pandemic

-Thunderstone Advance

-King of Tokyo

I also have several social/party games, if people want to play something lighter (Jenga, Scattergories, Guesstures, etc.)

Being a big RPG gamer, I also have a few, short one-shot adventures I could run, if anyone is interested. Those include the following:

-Fate Core (in a Lovecraftian, Call of Cthulhu-inspired setting)

-Fate Core (in a zombie apocalypse setting)

-D&D, 4th edition

-Dungeon World

-Monster of the Week

Keep an eye on this space because details may change over the week. Hope to see you all there!

Another Awesome Event. Have to say, I am really liking the Pathfinder Card Game with a full group. I may have to start bringing that to all my game sessions even just to play single missions.

    November 3, 2013

    • Ed G.

I'm not going to be there till 11, but you're welcome to show up anytime you want now that the venue is a public place!

For those of you driving, there IS parking at the Crystal City shops. I do not know what it costs on the weekends, though.

      November 2, 2013

The Landing is the open space next to San Antonio Grill. There is a Subway in the area.

also if anyone is in or near the Woodbridge area and needs a ride to the metro or to the event let me know I can carry up to 4

CHANGE OF VENUE. Because of a miscommunication with the condo committee, I actually do not have access to my community room this weekend. The new venue is The Landing at Crystal City Shops. For the most part, this should actually be a good thing as it's closer to a Metro stop (it's inside the Crystal City Metro!) But if this is a deal breaker for anyone, I am really sorry.

So there's a slight issue...maintenance forgot to drop off the Community Room key to me and the office is closed for the weekend. I'm contacting the emergency maintenance personnel to see if they can get me in; if not, I plan on relocating the event to the Landing in Crystal City. I'll keep you all posted and give you a definite answer by tonight.

I won't be bringing any games, seeing as I am poor and don't own any. But I will bring some chips and leftover Halloween candy for people to snack on.

    November 2, 2013

  • Steve J.

I'm planning on bringing Pathfinder The Adventure Card Game and maybe a couple of lighter ones.

I'm hoping to be able to make it on Sunday. There's a slight chance that I may have to miss for work. Assuming I can come, I'll bring some combination of: Caylus, Spyrium, Glory to Rome, Nightfall, Elasund, and whatever else I'm forgetting. I also have a few lighter games like Chronicle that I may bring.

  • Ed G.

Most of you have already done this, but if you're coming, try to list what games (if any) you're brining, what snacks or food (if any) you're bringing, and/or what games you think you're going to want to play on Sunday (whether from my collection or anything someone else has listed). This isn't mandatory, of course, but it's always nice to know who's expecting what, so planning is easier and the event, ultimately, is more fun for all!

Hey, all. I'll be bringing Lords of Waterdeep (D&D based Euro-game), Attack(WW2 themed big board game from Eagle Games, not as complicated as Axis or Allies), Monopoly - COSMIC MONOPOLY, and a demo for Mutants and Masterminds (still trying to decide between 2nd & 3rd edition) to play test some characters and combat.

      October 31, 2013

    • Mary C.

I can bring Dominion, Illuminati, Boss Monster. I also have Catan someone is Jonesin for that. As for treats, I probably will stop by Dunkins and pick up some donuts.

      October 31, 2013

  • Mary C.

I can bring Settlers of Catan, Dominion, and Dungeon Monster

    October 29, 2013

    • Mary C.

I live in the neighborhood! There's no excuse not to swing by in the afternoon. I'm itching to play some Arcana, Sewer Pirats, and/or Quarriors (all of which I'll bring along).

  • Ed G.

SILLY SIDE NOTE: I am the proud new owner of a Nintendo 3DS XL. If you have a DS/3DS, bring it over so I can do the whole StreetPass thingie with you!

    October 28, 2013

  • Joey

Hey, Ed! hope the visit with the folks was fun! I've got Lords of Waterdeep, Attack (easily 3+ hours, but fun WW2 style game) and some other goodies

    1 · October 28, 2013

    • Ed G.

I'm always down for Waterdeep, Joey! Maybe I'll give Attack a try, too, but I'm not a WWII kinda dude.

      October 28, 2013

    • Joey

it's WW2 themed as opposed to ww2 straight out, like axis & allies. If you like army men combat that's more free form, and card play to boot, I think you'll like this.

I have the new Firefly Board Game that is a lot of fun, also picked up the Numenera Thunderstone to try out if we want. Of course I would always love to play in a game of Mansions or Waterdeep too. :-)

At some point I would like to try and start a regular group to play the Pathfinder Card Game too, the next mission pack just came out and I haven't even played the first one yet. :-(

    October 28, 2013

    • Ed G.

Oh, man, so many games, so little time...I want to play all of those! And I'm totally down for a regular Pathfinder card game group.
