I'm picked up a couple of new players for my Saturday night D&D 3.5 game, and I just started in a new 3.5 campaign on Tuesday nights. It's weird to go from running 30th-level NPCs to running a 1st-level PC. Are you still running your campaign? I haven't heard anything lately.
