Paris with African American Travelers!

Paris with African American Travelers!

If you missed out on our trip last summer, here is your opportunity to dine on croissants at a small cafe, walk along the Seine river, and visit the Eiffel Tower with African American Travelers.  We're heading to Paris!  We're heading to Paris for 5 days and 4 nights!

About Paris

"Paris is the capital and largest city of France. It is situated on the river Seine, in northern France, at the heart of the Île-de-France region.  Paris is today one of the world's leading business and cultural centres and its influences in politics, education, entertainment, media, science, and the arts all contribute to its status as one of the world's major global cities.

The city's most prized museum, the Louvre, welcomes over 8 million visitors a year, being by far the world's most-visited art museum. The city's cathedrals are another main attraction: Notre Dame de Paris and the Basilique du Sacré-Coeur receive 12 million and eight million visitors, respectively.

The Eiffel Tower, by far Paris' most famous monument, averages over six million visitors per year and more than 200 million since its construction.  The Louvre is one of the world's largest and most famous museums, housing many works of art, including the Mona Lisa (La Joconde) and the Venus de Milo statue. Works by Pablo Picasso and Auguste Rodin are found in Musée Picasso and Musée Rodin."

Where Will We Stay?

We want to be in the heart of the action, so we will be staying in downtown Paris at the Holiday Inn Paris Gare Montparnasse

Hotel Features

At the eight-story Holiday Inn, 100 non-smoking rooms decorated in bold reds and blacks have flat-panel TVs, coffeemakers and free Wi-Fi.

Fill up on croissants and scrambled eggs at the generous breakfast buffet, and mingle over aperitifs in the lobby bar. Plan your itinerary in the 24-hour business center, or enjoy some quiet time in the garden. Private parking is available.

Hotel Location

The Holiday Inn is located in the 14th Arrondissement, five minutes from the Gaite Metro station and less than a mile from the Gare Montparnasse RER train station. Historic central Paris and iconic attractions such as the Eiffel Tower and Luxembourg Gardens are 15 minutes away by Metro.

The hotel is surrounded by cafes and bistros, and is a two-minute walk from popular theaters on the colorful Rue de la Gaite. Charles De Gaulle International Airport is about 25 miles away.

Note that hotel is subject to change, but the star rating will not go down. If we can get the Ritz for the same price... we will!

IMPORTANT: On the morning of July 17th we will meet at 30th Street Station and go to JFK airport via bus.  Precise itinerary will be specified after tickets are purchased (mid-February).

You can expect to see the following places on our itinerary:

-  The Louvre

-  The Catacombs

-  Palace De Versailles

-  Moulin Rouge

-  Eiffel Tower

-  Picasso Museum

-  Champs-Élysées

Can I bring a guest?

Guests are welcome.

Do we have to stick to the payment plan?

In order to be a part of this trip it is mandatory to make the down payment by November 15th. This money will go towards reserving your airline seat and is non-refundable.

Subsequent payments can be made at your discretion as long as we have received the required amounts at the indicated check points.

Is there any chance of the price changing?

Absolutely not! We have been working with a number of airlines and hotels to provide you with the best fare possible. We can say with confidence, that $2050 is the cost of your trip.

Which airline are we traveling with?

Our airline of choice is Iceland Air. However, this can change as our seats are not reserved until all of our first down payments have been collected and paid to the airline. If an airline comes along with a better offer for us, then by all means we will accept it. Please keep in mind your spot is not guaranteed until your final payment has been made.

It is important to us that you not have any doubts in traveling with us. Therefore, if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us at [masked] or[masked]-1236.

I'm trying to make a payment for the 320 but when I click on the link it says 150 deposit. Is there somewhere else that I can click to pay the 320

    1 · February 16, 2014

    • Lawrence M.

Hey Jenavisa! Next to the $150 deposit, you should see a drop down arrow. Once you click that arrow you will see an option for $320 dollars. Select that and you should be good to go.

Hello. If you bring someone do they pay the same rate ? I ask bc it says the room is dual occupancy. I was not able to make the cosi meeting but I'm making my decision on going now. Than you.

    1 · October 31, 2013

    • Lawrence M.

Hey Courtney! Yes if you bring someone they will pay the same rate. If you don't bring someone then we will match you up with a roommate. I hope this answers your question fully. If not, then let me know.

I have a quick question, there wasn't a way to combine the Rome and Paris trip for 2 weeks since they are only a few days apart? It would've been cheaper and everyone could attend both places. Rome and Paris are both places that you don't want to miss!

Oh okay, that makes sense as far as the time frame but there are many deals that would have allowed us to go to both for much cheaper since they are literally a train ride away from each other. Thanks for letting me know!!!

  • Kelly

    Hi Lawrence,

I've lost track of the ROME trip. Is it during the summer also? Thanks!

    1 · October 29, 2013

Hey Kelly! Yes the Rome trip is during the summer. We leave July 30th for that trip. Click the below link for more information:

I had a change in my schedule come up and I can no longer attend. I was really looking forward to this trip, but I'll have to attend at another time.

I think a good thing for us to do is to have a few meetup events specifically for the members traveling to Paris. I recently joined this group so I don't know anyone and I think it would be a good idea so that we all can be familiar and comfortable with one another.
