Rising Inequality, the Declining Middle Class, and Washington’s Budget

President Obama has declared that income inequality is the major issue of our time.  The effects of the long-term decline in middle class income have reached the front pages of newspapers and websites.  We’ll explore the evidence for these concerns, who/what is to blame, and remedies to achieve “economic growth from the middle out”.  Linda will share insights from the recent Budget Matters 2013 Conference sponsored by the Washington Budget and Policy Center.  To prepare, look at the videos of the excellent presentations by Heather McGhee, Jared Bernstein, and Governor Jay Inslee at that conference here:
