I've been a member of Tacoma Branch AAUW most of the time since 1970. My Master's is in Library Science, Univ. of Michigan (Go Blue!). I recently retired after 21 years on the library faculty at Pierce College.
libraries - academic, school, public (I've worked in all 3 kinds); and genealogy
I first joined in Michigan, shortly after graduating. Later, when I came to University Place/Tacoma area, I had a hard time finding anything about AAUW (those were the days before Internet, keyword searches, Google, Facebook, Meetup. I had to ask around a lot before finally finding someone who belonged; they came and picked me up for my first meeting, and the rest is history.
AAUW is a fantastic place for college-educated women to meet each other and advocate for the rights of women and girls, while developing lifelong friendships and our own leadership skills. Our Tacoma Branch has several smaller interest groups that meet monthly, in addition to our monthly Saturday Branch meetings. As a Branch member, you can attend one or several interest groups.
