Augmentative Communication
All of the mentors at KerriCares utilize assistive technology in communication. Kerri Adamic, the owner, believes that this fact establishes a rapport with our clients which other individuals and organizations do not typically have. Furthermore, the dialogue held between our clients and our mentors allows the use of assistive technology to take on a sense of normalcy absent in other situations. Finally, group get-togethers enable speakers to meet with people who share similar challenges, fostering an atmosphere of trust and friendship

This group's intention is to increase the communication ability of individuals who use assistive technology through socialization. People who use assistive technology, specifically children and those new to AT, may feel a reluctance, anxiety, or even fear about the use of their device in social settings. Although a communication device enables individuals to speak to the world around them, a device is only as useful as its owner’s propensity to use it.

Information for Parents
Often times, the communication barriers hindering children with special needs can be vexing and or feel unmanageable to parents. The support services available for these children often exist unbeknownst to most parents and therefore families are unsure of how to best help themselves. Kerri seeks to remedy exactly these sorts of issues by providing parents with information and non-conventional solutions to obstacles in communication
