Let's have another one. This is a practice session, not a class. We can practice anything from basics to rescues BUT it is practice. If you have rope please bring it. I'll bring some 9mm rope. Required equipment includes a helmet, harness, safety tether, rappel device, some 5 or 6mm cord to tie a prusik, a couple of locking carabiners, 2 liters of water and a snack. We will go until everyone has had enough which usually means until 2-3 PM. Standard Disclaimer: This is an outing of like minded people getting together to enjoy practicing some of the skills used in canyoneering. There is no guide, no instructor or person in charge. Each person is responsible for his/her own equipment and safety. Canyoneering is a dangerous sport that can lead to serious injury or death.
Just a reminder. This is a practice session for existing skills, not a class or a workshop for learning new skills.
Roberto --- This event is not for beginners. It is for people who have already been taught rappelling and other on-rope techniques by competent instructors. It provides an opportunity for people to practice these skills. Rich Carlson of the ACA is a great instructor and he will be teaching here in early March. Professional instruction is the best way to learn these skills since it is easy to get badly injured. Take a class and then come out and practice. Take care..............Bob
Where exactly are we meeting? Side of the road? The tree of knowledge? Up in the rock?
Meet roadside at south end until 9AM then proceed to big tree aka "tree of knowledge".
Hello Bob... my friend who was supposed to teach me how to rappel at Stoney Point just cancelled on me... due to the type of work he does he has to work tomorrow...
could it be possible to be added to this meetup? my plan by adding myself to the waiting list was just to stop by and say hi... now that i won't be going with my friend, could i still stop by?
the only thing i have as far as equipment goes is a harness that i just got last night...
