This is my first time in this canyon.
Super fun canyon, but wet. Many of the raps are in or through water falls that flow year round. I traditionally save this canyon for summer when it's hot. You may want to consider a different canyon until then.
Looks awesome! Wish I could make it out, but alas... it looks like a work weekend. I'll try to catch you for the next one Trevor.
Thanks for the heads up Brian. I think I might do as you say and save this one for the summer. I was thinking of switching to Hastings Canyon, any thought (beta) about this canyon?
I recommend you avoid Hastings. It's difficult to find the correct entry (no trail because no one ever goes...) and I recall it as dusty and unremarkable. Bailey, immediately east, is far superior to Hastings, as a small adventure. If you just like to adventure hike and bushwhack, Hastings is for you. If you are looking for fun raps, I'd skip it.
Thanks Kirk, I was going off the number of stars given by Chris Brennen's site, 3-starts for Hastings & 2-stars for Bailey, so I'm glad to have your feedback.
See you all at 9am tomorrow morning. 3 of us our driving down from Santa Barbara and we plan to meet at Bailey Canyon Park in the morning. My cell is 805-794-9278.
Hi Trevor, knowing what you know about my experience level... am I qualified to do this trip?
