ACE (@AgileEx) Product Ownership with Roman Pichler

Product ownership is something many companies struggle with. There are three reasons for this: First, we have to understand what products the organisation develops, and why – what value they create for the users and for the company. Second, it implies clarifying who actually owns and decides about the products. And third, there is the concept of a single product owner which some view as a dogma and others as a loopy idea.

I hope to discuss all three aspects with you in my session. I would also like to share my experience of coaching product owners and consulting companies to establish effective product ownership.

I didn't find anything new or radical in Roman's proposals. I was hoping for something more thought provoking a la: https://vimeo.com/76046078

Hi Anthony, I am sorry to hear that you did not get out of my talk as much as you had hoped. If you are interested in my thoughts on Lean Startup, then have a look at my blog, for instance: http://www.romanpichl...

So my take on Project Managers - just another stakeholder...line up your user stories with the PO and wait in line

Seems to me that there are about a dozen responsibilities that need to be carried out while bringing a product to fruition, and these are all distributed in a slightly different way among a companies current crop of product owners, project managers, scrum masters, BAs, developers, architects, UX directors, and chief imagineering technicians. A project manager in one place might be doing completely different stuff to one in the next place...

Was seriously doubting my take at the PO role..This was a useful presentation and confirmed I was right..going to stick to my guns

I have to say the meetup was good and went through very clearly what was expected. It made clear the definition of a Product Owner, and how these roles and its responsibilities might pan out in large and smb organisations !

Few agile sites in Financial Services get the PO role right and when they do it becomes a constraint on flow, so looking forward to this

Ben is dusting down his video camera and we are going to give it a bash. No promises on quality- I reckon Ben could get some tips from ITV though :)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
