Hello ACN people! In July we'll give our time to animals. We did this in January and everyone enjoyed it. We need both dog and cat people (I'm definitely the former). This place is on the west side near the intersection of the 405 and the 10.
We've got 8 spaces, but if more people join the waiting list I'll try and get more spots!
Here's the straight poop (sorry) from LA Works:
What: Help walk dogs, feed cats, and socialize with animals.
Friends of Animals Foundation is a non-profit no-kill rescue and shelter dedicated to the loving care and thoughtful placement of homeless dogs and cats.
Volunteer Project: L.A. Works volunteers bring a little human companionship to the rescued animals at the Friends of Animals Foundation. Volunteers help walk dogs, feed cats and socialize with the animals, bringing some positive energy to the shelter as the animals wait for a new home.
If you work with the dogs, you will walk dogs and help socialize them. It's good exercise for the dogs and the volunteers!
If you work with the cats, you will help socialize them and keep their living spaces clean.
- Volunteers for this project must be at least 18 years of age.
- Please wear comfortable clothes and closed toed shoes.
Accessibility: L.A. Works firmly believes that we strengthen the social fabric of our community by involving all in service. If you feel you need accommodations to participate in this project please email us at [masked].
Update 1/22/13 -- Parking Info from Erika our LA Works guru:
The shelter is on Sepulveda between Pico and Olympic. The street behind the shelter is Bentley and there's free parking there. There's also free parking on Tennessee just east of Bentley. Avoid the meters because they are one hour only!
