Hello Voluntatheists,

Another West Side opportunity.  This time we'll do a little gardening!  Enjoy the sun and the earth as the traffic of the 10 and the 405 drones in the background!  We'll be helping to care for a garden at this school that serves lower-income kids that is used to help teach them about the environment.  I hope it will be fun!  Kids over five welcome, see guidelines below.

There are only 9 spots, so sign up quickly!

Here's the info from LA Works:

Daniel Webster Middle School is an LAUSD public school serving grades

Location: Last time some people had trouble finding the garden on the school property.  I'll email the coordinator and get more explicit instructions as the project gets near.

Volunteer Project: L.A. Works volunteers come out to help care for and maintain the Daniel Webster School Garden, which serves to educate students about the environment and environmental inequity, as well as to provide a resource that enriches the community. Volunteers work to create new gardening plots, remove weeds and brush, and add new plants.

Special Note: In case of rain the day before or the day of the project, the project will likely be canceled. If this is the case you will be notified by email.

Age Requirement: Volunteers for this project must be at least 5 years of age.

Minors: Any volunteer under the age of 18 will need to bring and have signed by a parent/guardian a Volunteer Agreement & Release for Minors. Volunteers under 13 years of age will also need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Federal Law prohibits volunteers under the age of 13 from registering on-line. To sign up a family member under the age of 13, sign yourself up and then email the project leader directly to let her/him know. Or, form a family volunteer team, include your children as team members, and then sign your team up for the project.

Accessibility: L.A. Works firmly believes that we strengthen the social fabric of our community by involving all in service. If you feel you need accommodations to participate in this project please email us at [masked].

Hi Jolie, I won't be able to get there before 10am so I changed my RSVP to "No" in case other people want to join. But it seems that you are short a few people so if you wouldn't mind I could still attend, just be late.
Let me know if that sounds reasonable or should I just wait for the next event.
    Thank you,

Sorry that I have to cancel for the March 8th middle school event--I am taking things easy for a while now. Jolie, thank you so much for your interest in my welfare. I am absolutely fine, but more tired out than I thought and must take a break. Thanks. ♥

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
