Provide Companionship to Animals!

Hello ACN people!  In January we'll give our time to animals.  We need both dog and cat people (I'm definitely the former).  This place is on the west side near the intersection of the 405 and the 10.

We've got six spaces, but if more people join the waiting list I'll try and get more spots!

Here's the straight poop (sorry) from LA Works:

What: Help walk dogs, feed cats, and socialize with animals.

Friends of Animals Foundation is a non-profit no-kill rescue and shelter dedicated to the loving care and thoughtful placement of homeless dogs and cats.

Volunteer Project: L.A. Works volunteers bring a little human companionship to the rescued animals at the Friends of Animals Foundation. Volunteers help walk dogs, feed cats and socialize with the animals, bringing some positive energy to the shelter as the animals wait for a new home.

If you work with the dogs, you will walk dogs and help socialize them. It's good exercise for the dogs and the volunteers!

If you work with the cats, you will help socialize them and keep their living spaces clean.

Requirements:

  • Volunteers for this project must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Please wear comfortable clothes and closed toed shoes.

Accessibility: L.A. Works firmly believes that we strengthen the social fabric of our community by involving all in service. If you feel you need accommodations to participate in this project please email us at [masked].

Update from Erika our LA Works leader:

Thanks for signing up for the volunteer opportunity *FURRY FUN: Provide Companionship to Animals taking place on 1/26/[masked]:00 AM. I am the Volunteer Leader for this project and I look forward to serving with you.

Here's some additional information about this volunteer project:
    ...

Again, the project location is: 2336 Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90064 Special Directions: The Shelter is on Sepulveda between Pico and Olympic. There is free parking on Bentley (the street behind the shelter) and Tennessee.

We'll need a few people to work with cats, and the rest to walk dogs.
If its raining, we can still walk dogs, as long as the rain is not too heavy. If it is raining too heavy, we may end early!
The area around the shelter is relatively flat but there could be some flooding on the street, so be prepared!

    Hi Sned,

West LA being the parking nightmare that it is, are there any suggestions as to parking spots. Per google maps there looks to be like 2-3 metered spots in front and an animal hospital nextdoor.

Overflow can help out socializing animals at the Lange Foundation, just north of Olympic on Sepulveda. That's where I will go.
