Napa Valley Harvest 2013 74 miler ( I named it )

Harvest season is beginning in the Napa Valley.  Let's ride from Yountville to Jimtown Store in the Alexander Valley http://www.jimtown.com/  for lunch along the St. Helena Highway to the deli.  Head back after lunch, make a left in Calistoga and pedal along the Silverado Trail back to the Coffee Caboose.

Route from the new strava app is attached.

http://www.strava.com/routes/11607

The distance is 74 miles with 2851 of elevation.  If another date would work better, let me know.

Looking forward to the responses!

Don A.

There should be plenty of parking by the Coffee Caboose for us.

Pam forwarded this link to me. It looks like there is an organized event in the same area. Might make parking a little harder in the morning.

Thanks Glenn. Good to know. The veterans home has a ton of parking, I don't think this ride will be as large as the tour de cure of napa, so we might be able to find a spot or two.

    Hi you guys.

Tomorrow is looking good weather wise for Yountville and Napa Valley. High of 82 with low wind, The morning low is 52, so we will have a cool start, but warming up nicely.

Did everyone get the starting point change? It shortens the ride slight, but if you're energetic, I can throw in an extra hill or two. See y'all in the morning....

I'm thinking of changing the start location to Yountville. It will shorten the ride slightly, but provide numerous opportunities for wine and food after the ride. Any thoughts? We should get there early enough to find all day parking.

Disappointed that I won't be able to make it, however I don't think my knees are yet to a place where they can support the distance =-( I hope you all enjoy a fantastic day in the saddle, and please feel free to let me know if you anticipate a need for any SAG support!

Chris, you are more than welcome to join us during the ride. Jane is interested too. There are a couple of nice spots to stop and hang out. Then meet up for lunch and the after ride.
Let me know, I'll get the location and names of the park

    Do you need SAG support??

    September 24, 2013

    • Don A.

      Hi Jane
Of course, if you're interested in following along or driving ahead, there are a couple of nice parks you can hang out in until we get there.

It should be a nice day on Saturday.

Hey Don, should we all meet in Davis before we make our way to Napa? Perhaps at 6:30?

    September 23, 2013

    • Don A.

I think that's a good time. I say 6:30 to 7:00. It may be a little cool in the morning in Napa. I'll get Christie about 6:00 - 6:15.

Pam and I are going to Napa the night before the ride. No need to wait for us in Davis

Any idea what the car traffic is going to be like with it being harvest time?

    August 31, 2013

    • Don A.

I'm sure there will be traffic, but the roads have a decent shoulder.
