Corte Madera, San Francisco - Tiburon loop (40 to 50 miles approx)

Due to Bay Bridge Construction, we changed the meeting location and route.

Leaving from The Village at Corte Madera Macy's, heading toward Tiburon, crossing toward the bike path and headed through Sausilito and over the GG Bridge to the Marina Green area and Fort Mason.  We can stop at the Marina Green Safeway for a deli sandwich or snacks.

Double back over the GG Bridge and toward Tiburon, take a different path and into the town of Tiburon for a snack, before looping around Tiburon on Paradise Road.  Slight climbs and rollers, but great views.

Back to the starting point, total about 50 miles.  Not bad with the breaks and stop for lunch.

About how much % grade levels are the hills? I don't know if I'm considered a beginner or intermediate rider. The farthest I've ridden is 45 miles. Is it okay to join you guys on some part & just turn around when I feel that it's too much for me? Thank you.

Hi Elizabeth. I just mapped out the route and put in the shorter version. It came out to 39 miles. There are about 2 areas on the way back from the town of Sausalito up toward the GG bridge that are about 8 to 10%, but short, maybe 100 to 200 yards. The path from Fort Baker to the GG Bridge is about 8 % and a couple of hundred yards, but very doable if you take your time and just pace yourself in the lowest gear. (It is okay to walk up too, if you need to)

Well Gina, the beauty is we can always split up at Paradise and Treslle Glen at mile 23 and meet back up again around Strawberry Park at Mile 24 as it is now. I will add the extra route to the route map to show it.

Don, thank you for accomodating me, but feel free to ride more miles if you want to. I can always just take the shorter version & meet up with the group later.

Hey Don, carpooling option still up for grabs? That would be perfect if so, Let me know. I can compensate gas money. I'm an early riser, I could be ready before 7 if you'd like to grab coffee as well. Thanks. Either way I can't wait, looks like a blast!

Breaking News!!!! The SF Bay Bridge Westbound will be closed all weekend and Monday for repair work. An alternative will be to head over the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge http://g.co/maps/ca62h

It does not add much time, but the toll on the GG Bridge is more I believe.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Tom suggested we change the meeting point of the ride to the Marin side of the bay to bypass crossing the Golden Gate Bridge by car. Not a bad idea. I propose we meet in the Macy's parking lot at the Village at Corte Madera, 1618 Redwood Highway, Corte Madera. We can park for 'nada' and start the ride there toward Tiberon. We can still ride to San Francisco via the GG Bridge and have something to eat by the Marina Green.

Does this change in the meeting place or route impact anyone?

Not bad at all. Free parking, especially in SF is very good. See you guys soon!

Hey Don, thinking of riding fixed. You think that would be a problem on that course? Anyting over about 10%?

@randy. Nothing over 10% that I can remember. @dan I didn't receive any objections for meeting at Macy's at The Village at Corte Madera. The parking lot won't be crowded around 9 am or so. We can plan on peddling out at 9:30

Had a blast! That is a very nice place to ride if you don't mind a bit of automotive traffic too. Was overcast in the morning, but became a beautiful day.
