The Anxiety Disorders Association of Victoria (ADAVIC) Social Events/Catch-Up Group was started for those individuals who are involved with the ADAVIC, including all past and present volunteers, members and their family and friends. As ADAVIC has over 40 volunteers this is a great opportunity for all to meet on occasions, plus members of the association to meet ADAVIC volunteers and other members – great possibility for all to get together!
ADAVIC holds regular Anxiety Support Group Meetings in Kew, Coburg, Altona and Berwick which you can check for those details on our website at www.adavic.org.au
ADAVIC also provides a telephone/information and support service from Tuesday to Friday and holds regular, lectures, programs and workshops throughout the year – again check out our website for further detailed information.
ADAVIC wishes to provide a more social environment for not only our members but for all involved in the running of ADAVIC.
ADAVIC believes the social events will assist individuals who suffer from Social Anxiety, Generalized Anxiety, Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Agoraphobia and other related mental health disorders.
ADAVIC will attempt to have monthly social events in various parts of Melbourne to cater for all – this can be discussed on the forum.
The ADAVIC Anxiety Support Group Meetings have proven to be very beneficial for those individuals attending SO why not go one step further and provide a social environment where people can catch up for a coffee, have dinner, go on bike rides, go for walks, join a book club, have picnics and much more. We currently do have a bike ride and this has been established to be quite successful however adding more social events will benefit others who might prefer one of the other social activities.
ADAVIC have seen friendships develop through the support groups so the social events will be another great opportunity for more friendships to develop.
ADAVIC holds regular fundraisers as well like our Annual Bunning’s Sausage Sizzle which both volunteers and members love participating in; Trivia Nights; Chocolate Fundraiser and more. If you have any fundraising ideas, share them with us. ADAVIC would like to see members participate more in our fundraising activities – it is great opportunity to have some FUN!
No specific days have been set for the social events; we believe it is best for the members and volunteers to work that out themselves because there could be several social events happening at any time.
ADAVIC would like to advise you that we have created three broad profile questions when joining the group; the purpose of this is to collect statistics. Everything is kept confidential.
ADAVIC also wants it to be noted that what is spoken in the group REMAINS in the group – confidentially is of the upmost importance.
Should you have any questions at all please email us at adavic@adavic.org.au
SO what are you waiting for join us and welcome to the group!
